100 acre plant was captured today, described as a huge chemical weapon factory. No link, just reported on Fox news.
Well, Hans Blix probably will report that the Iraqis are begining to cooperate now.
-

yeah, I pray that we will open our eyes and let the UN lead the way to world peace. Only the UN has the wisdom to guide our world.
-
Iraq possesses chemical weapons in no way. This is plane rediculous.
-
just another US trick I'm sure

Don't get ahead of yourselves.

Good advice Toad, but it sure seems like you would have won that bet... (actually that is the first thing I thought of when I read the news)
-
no clear indication of what this place really is YET. I do NOT trust any israli news service to be objective on the subject of wmd.. and i trust western news agencys even less.
lets wait till we get a reading from the international imbeds in the coalition force that are there for JUST this situation.
24 hours should do it.
-
#1 rule of rumors and news....... the first thing you hear is usually wrong.
;)
Just wait; truth will out eventually. No need to jump in making guesses and then come up looking dipped in doo with no rose between your teeth!
-
Yea... w/our luck its prob a JD plant. Which would explain my recent unexplained aversion to my old favorite drink of choice...Jack Danials. Same Saddam has been posioning me.
-
it's really a baby milk factory, defended by iraq troops
-
It's just another 'Baby Food' factory....
Opps.. John9001 beat me to it.
-
Hmmm... the UN must be a bunch of incompetent turds.
-
It's called a chemical factory for now
Until they find out what it was making, they can't determine if it was for chemical weapons or dual use or non-chemical weapons.
it was run by a general and camo'd though.
should be interesting.
-
You defense attorneys with your fancy smancy suits and nice cars and adlibbed quotes are all the same.
"If the chems don't fit you must aquit."
Pffffft! :D

Hope it really is a chemical weapons factory.
I really hope we are there for the right reasons.
I honestly think we are but proof would be a major relief.
-
"defense" is pretty outta line.
and "attorney" is way the hell outta line.

when was the last time you saw a legit chemical factory made of sand cast adobe one story buildings, it could not be seen from the air, the UN or the US did not know it was there, it was on no declared list. it was only found because ground troops spotted it.
the UN inspectors would have never found it.
-

Yep they didn't even know it existed and it was never listed to them.
not too shocking, we knew they had stuff that the inspectors never knew about.

mebbe Saddam's folks were just trying to blend in out of respect for the natural environment, unlike us greedy, SUV-drivin cowboys :)

Besides, can you prove that it is an Iraqi chemical factory?
I mean, isnt it a little too convenient that it is "found" now? After US troops has entered the area?

No, of course our plot to rationalize our conquest of these free and peace loving nation had been exposed by the super slueth Horhund.
Our CB's have hired some Hollivood(cr1941) expert set construction crews and in 3 days have built an exact replica of a chemical factory expertly camo'd so no one could find it!
WTG Hor! No one can fool you. You've exposed the great USA satan for what it is!
Get a ****in life...
-
I see Lizard knows me fairly well.
-
Its going to be very difficult to prove what the plant was/wasn't used for if the doccuments/procedures/formulas have been destroyed.
MiniD
-
Realistically, it will matter very little what we find.
All the people who have believed that WMD's were in Iraq will say "SEE there it is !!!"
And all the people against the war will simply accuse the US of fabricating any proof that is found.
There are very few centrists that will be swayed either way.

its funny how citizens of countries that are supposedly our allies are accusing us of fabricating evidence to justify our war.
you guys are not our allies at all. your jealous. that is the bottom line.
you can stand with us or against us
god save you if you chose the latter!
-
Glad they found it at least.
All the scuts on Kuwait were a violation of UN resolution already, Saddam wasn't aloud to posess them !!!

The interesting thing is, how is the US going to plant chem weapons unless they have some of their own?
If Iraq is smart, they'll make sure none are found, even if it means destroying them. The US must capture the chem weps intact because if they find them destroyed, then it only supports what Iraq said.

No, they only said that they didn't find any, and that they should keep looking.
-
I don't personally think they will find WMD at that munitions storage area. Fox broke that a little too early, very ambitious reporting is what I think we will find out. I was reading today that there will be an extensive site survey in the very near future, but preliminary results are a nogo.

This is one of the disadvantages to having embedded journalists. In previous engagements, the gov't would release the info to the press, or they'd have to infer it through "rogue reporters".
Now, being on the front line with live feeds, they hear "chemical weapons plant" and roll with it. In most battles, even the people involved don't sort the facts out until that battle is over, and they sit back and go over it.

Once again Fox News lives up to it's nickname (Faux News)...
