...is that the machine appears to be intact, and the Iraqi propoganda machine hasn't announced that they've captured the crew. Apache Longbows don't fly alone, so I'm guessing the pilot had a mechanical problem, put it down, got picked up by a wingman, and had planned to return with a maintenance crew.
I'm also guessing that it was on the list of this morning's bombing targets.

The crew has been reported as missing. Damage was noted in the previous thread about this.
-
i love the video of the iraqis cheering around it and rubbing their hands on it..
reminds me of the obelisk scene in 2001
oooh oooh oooh

Yeah, Iraqis are just a bunch of apes.
-

I went back a couple of pages but couldn't find the thread. What was the damage?
I did find a Yahoo news article that said that an Apache had gone down and the rescue attempt had been driven off by ground fire, and that the US officials have stated that 1 Apache didn't return from its mission and its crew is MIA. Iraq says the helicopter was brought down by farmers and they have the crew but haven't shown their pictures.

No, I guess you didn't get the movie. That was the moment that man went from ape to early man. But they were still apes before they 'touched' the monolith.

Naaa.... Saddam and his bully boys arent even close to that level of culture. Apes are gentle, smart, loyal and display alot of affection towards thier own.

-

If you read the book I think it supports Kanth's contention. That is the "apes" thought rationally before the oblesk, but were unable to use tools.

You're not a dork for reading Clarke Sikboy, he da man. Though Childhood's End covers the same basic concept in a better manner IMO (the HAL stuff was a great component of 2001 however).

That is the "apes" thought rationally before the oblesk...
Purely out of interest, what the hell is a 'rational ape'? :p
Rama and 2001 are the best books Clarke ever wrote.

Both pilots of the helicopter were captured by iraqies and now they are on iraqies TV. As well as the peasant with Mauser K-98 who forced the landing of the Apache.

It is wise to learn the ways of your enemy. If you do not know him, you cannot defeat him. :D
