Title: Uninstalling DirectX 9.0
Post by: gofaster on March 25, 2003, 10:20:35 AM
I installed the newest NASCAR Racing 2003 Season racing sim and it installed DirectX 9.0. The only side effect I've found (so far) is that it messed up my Aces High sounds and radio, so I'm going to uninstall it and go back to DirectX 8.0. Anybody tried this and had any problems?

have done the same without problems.

I race 2003 racing season a lot, especially when friends visit, and have dx9 running (win xp) without a single problem.

I'm on Windows ME with a Soundblaster Live! card, so I suspect its the vintage of my equipment and O/S.

Yeah get rid of that Creative pos. You might try to load Dx9 compliant drivers from creative, but I think thier online support sucks so royally these days that it might prove impossible.

Get a better soundcard. Dx9 works like a charm (W2k, nforce built in sound.)

The best and easiest DirectX removal program is DXBuster (http://www.dxbuster.de/index_e.html).  It works with all version of DirectX and is also Win2K/XP compatible.

It is best not to upgrade to DX9 unless you have a video card that supports the DX9 features, otherwise it doesn't improve performance for non-DX9 compliant cards.

Thanks!  I may suck up and buy a new soundcard, though I hate to spend cash on a software driver problem.  I guess its a good thing I have some money left over after paying this year's taxes.
