Title: feature suggestion
Post by: Noctilux on March 25, 2003, 01:57:12 PM
Um, I'm probably not alone in this one, so here goes:

With the large maps (Trinity, Pizza) I can never find the fields that my teammates are screaming for help at.  They'll yell "help A195" or something, and I look at the map for a few minutes, even trying to kinda logically follow the numbers, and I never find the field I'm looking for.  Then I get shot down cuz I wasn't paying attention.

So maybe we can have a ".find" command, where one could bring up the clipboard/map, type ".find xxx" and the map would then center on field xxx.  I know if I'm in the tower that I can do ".move xxx," so perhaps a ".find" while in the air is techncally possible.

Anyway, just a suggestion.

Seconded!  Please!

We can already do a .move 123 to get to friendly airfield 123, but there's no way to know how to find base 144 or something when someone says 'We need troops at 144!'.

Would be nice, but our squad has gotten into the habit of using the grid coordinates also.

I expect a 'fix' for this in AHII.

Yea Grid Cordinates are the only way to go

"Large bish bomber formation heading 135, Galaxy Milky Way, Quadrant Alpha, Sector 001, System Sol, Planet Earth, Hemisphere northern, Map Pizza, Coordinates 10,13 keypad 3"

Yea, its a mouthful...but it works :D

Why not just open the roster, select your squadmate and click on the "goto" button?

It takes you to the field they launched from, and presumably that will be the closest field to where they are asking for help from.

Hey, while you're at it, can you also change the map direction pointer shape to something else other than an airplane. This is really hard to see most of the time.

I would really appreciate if this can be fixed. It's MUCH easier to see a wedge or a pointer, (an arrow maybe??).

Please, don't make me beg.....
