Yep, it's the Bristol Beaufighter, aperently with 75mm cannon in the nose?

I think its a sensor of some kind. Looks to small to be a ww2 radar though.

I believe those are 6" rockets under the wing, giving each Beaufighter the power equivalent to a broadside from a light cruiser

Can't be sure but maybe it just covered ID-lamp so it could be seen only from front?
IIRC some fighter-bombers also carried a gun-camera in the nose, dunno :confused:
