Title: Looking to buy a Mahogany aircraft model

I'm hoping someone has seen these models offered through a different company. I really don't want to pay full price from the manuafacture. 150.00$ is nuts.

I hit your link it was called the "Gustav"
So I guess the real question is, "why do Germans think we think all 109s are emils"?

Post by: GRUNHERZ on March 27, 2003, 07:36:02 AM: No its a straight up E model painted in a badly done Hartman Bf109G scheme and has an erla haube painted on instead of the older style canopy. Just shows their obsession with 109E, even CGI movies sjow 109E, even the game BF1942 gives only a 109E etc etc, just some wierd obession with the Emil... :)

We sell these mahogony desktops where I work and the prices listed are about right. The detail on them is fairly good to ok. You're basically paying for the wood(mahogony isn't cheap)and the workmanship.
If you want to get a nice model, try Corgi or even better yet, Dragon has out a new series of 1/72 metal diecasts that are really nice. They have etched panel lines, weathering, etc. The new Zero is especially nice and the price point is in the $30-45 range.

He's probably a wholesaler or someone with a more direct connection to the factory. We are a retail outlet as is the site you saw these advertised. Everyone's got to mark up their product to make their money.
Wooden desktops are nice if you only have one or two, but they are usually large and take up a lot of room. The Corgis or Dragons in 1/72 scale are nice as they are a lot smaller.
