OK, serious question here. Why would I want to boycott French products when it's Chirac who's an arrogant idiot? One's private industry, one's the government. Why would I want to intentionally try to hurt someone's business when they may or may not agree with the situation in Iraq?

BTW...Despite my confusion on this subject, I have been actively boycotting Wild Turkey, Motel 6, and The Jerry Springer show for several years now. :D

For starters, it is legal. Deciding to disrupt French economy by other means (like sending hundreds of fake anthrax letters containing small amounts of baking powder and some threat in broken english) would probably do more damage to their economy, but it wouldnt be legal.
Then you'll have to take into consideration that the public support for Chiracs policy is rock solid. I think something like 80% of the French public supports his line of action in the Iraq question.

Well...when you're a frustrated reactionary conservative, a nationalist boycott is the obvious thing to do when you're looking for a childish, knee-jerk way of dealing with foreigners who don't goose-step along with you.

It's all France's fault always! And the WTC was attacked by beret-wearing Aryans singing the Panzerlied while sipping champagne paid for by the Russian Mafia.
