Title: Long time Aw3 pilot
Post by: Coolknight on October 19, 2000, 08:27:00 AM
Used to fly Air Warrior 3 since it's beta.

Let me say that I find AH to be the far
better game, faster graphics and everything.

The one reason I no longer like AW3 is that
they removed the FR arena in which you
could fly all WW2 fighters like in AH.

I will take time to adapt, but I think my
AW3 days are over.

AH is simply more fun.

Coolknight

Let me be the first to welcome you to AH. I myself started flying these online sims back in AWDOS (1989). You have chosen the best the market has to offer in AH and I'm sure you'll have fun...a great community exist here as well, so enjoy!

If you ever need any help online, just comm me and I'll do my best (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

So now it's all just RR arenas?

That's a shame if true.

I have just joined AH but I am still flying AW as well.  I like the community there and know so many people in the arenas.  FR is still there and will not dissapear.  However whilst RR exists it will be flown by the majority of folk, and that's what brings the money in.  Personally I cannot see the sense in a flight sim with "Relaxed Realism".  It defeats the object.  Same reason I can't use one of those Microsnot Snidewinder joysticks.  When I learned to fly for real I had rudder pedals, not a twist grip stick  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Hehe, yep F4U in AW didn't need hispanos to dominate  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif) Only meeting another F4 ace like PC or BAL would make me afraid when I was in a Hawg.

I think the main difference was the climbrate - you could climb away from most planes, particually up high. With the AH F4U, this isn't quite true  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

No idea which is more accurate, although given the overall superb quality of AH I have my suspicions...  The difference was certainly striking though.

HEHEHE AW DOS pilot here too from eearly 93. Flew under the handle of Bullet Magnet first then later as Maverick with the 13th TAS. Loved the F6F there and the truly lethal 50's it had. Used to hate to fly the Euro theater as couldn't get my cat.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)

Welcome, your bunk's the top one, over by the broken window.
As good as the software is, the best thing about this sim is the people. Both at HTC and the community. With some notable exceptions  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Bah. Gimme a A-26, P-38, or P-40 and I could kill anything  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Only plane I ever had trouble with were FW's. 1 pinger kills and all  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

F4U was nice till it got porked. I outzoomed RM once with the Vader. First time I seen him explode verbally  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Ahhh...such a sight to see.  He and DD (DeadDuck  I believe) were winging in FR Pac around Wantuck when they ran into my slightly higher F6.  Proceeded to (luckily) shoot them booth down at which point they both went into the AW Vet Rant.  Was a great moment as I proceeded to hunt RM unmercilessly the next week.

Jeez...hes was a great pilot but man did he hate losing.

Welcome Coolnight.....good to have another AW convert in Aces.  Was an ole AWDOS user (pilot number 2279....any ole dos'ers remember those days??....hehehe)back when we had to use GEnie to play.  Flew FR PAC in AW3 as RAS (short for RascaL because the guy with that handle wouldn't duel for the rights to use it  :-(((  ).

Anyway.....good to have you on board, good luck and good hunting

welcome aboard!  another fugitive from aW here.  You'll find AH a very rewarding and fun experience.  Nice community, very good FM and graphics. but original ammo loads, don't waste it <G>
