Title: Perk Points usage in the CT
Post by: Mister Fork on March 28, 2003, 11:29:30 AM
After much debate, the CT staff are going to be resetting perk points on a weekly basis. The reason for this is three-fold.

a) To address issues of individual aircraft overuse.
b) Assignment small perk point values to aircraft that normally would unbalance the arena.
c) Allow more flexible setups that gives a broader aircraft/vehicle scope in the arena.

This is to address this weeks map.  I will post the details later when my CT setup is complete.

Please feel free to express your concerns/opinions about this issue.

Go for it.  We don't use them for anything, anyway.

I'm concerned that at least in the early part of the week, the better sticks are going to be the ones that can afford the perk planes, and they aren't the ones that really need 'em.  ;)

It might be more acurate to say that perks will be reset when it is approparate to do so.

Bah this is America competition is rewarded.. I say perk em' all.. and the least good plane.. the kate or 202.. oh they can be free ;)

Perk the bullets.. perk the bombs perk em' all!

Limited 4 lives per hour.. this worked out good a few setups ago.. adds tention. Slows down the bombers.

Friendly collisions turned on... heh.... adds realism.. you need to anounce what field and what runway you want...

Strat resupply turned on.. takes field same time to re-supply.. 30 minutes.. that's how long it takes the trucks and trains to deliever. It takes them 3 loads to resupply a base.. Besides, it's fun to shoot at the trucks and trains etc..

But that's my opinion I could be wrong ;)

That would be cool. How about a night or two with the 4 lives per hour limit and icons turned off?

I agree.
The best, and most fair way to limit plane type usage is to limit the fields that they are available from.

But how many 'good sticks' are there so they may rack up huge scores and would be able to ride perk planes all through out the week?

I don't think there's a problem with this new policy. Good sticks are always few and rare.. and I guess seeing two or three hotshots boasting around in the latest planes, won't do much harm to the numerous more average(except envoke envy! :D ) fliers.

Perks are continuously reset, and people have only 1 week to collect scores.. and perk planes in 2~4 point range... I think this is a welcome change.

Agree with Slash.  (Perks + limited lives) - Icons = a great time

Darn...with the limited time I can fly it will be rare that I can afford any perk rides.

Shame too, I had several hundred saved up which took me a good six months. :( Wish I could sell em. ;)

I'm not sure if you are asking or TELLING us but if you are asking I say keep your hands off my perkies.

I have not seen a huge imbalance with uber perk planes when I have been on.

I just read your original post.

After much debate, the CT staff are going to be resetting perk points on a weekly basis.

Who did you debate with?

We often play with our self's.

Perks in the CT are a set up tool for the CT staff, one we used to use more often but realy havent made much use of lately.

Perks in the CT are generaly used to limit plane usage of certain types of aircraft/vehicals to mimic more historical usage levals. Or like they are in the MA to limit plane usage of types that could cause a power imbalance.

Personaly Perks are a big pain in the pooper, first off we cant modify them ourself's so we nead to get HTC to do this for us, they are busys folks and geting this done in a timly maner can be problimatice for them and us.

Perks realy dont work to well for limiting certain planes for a number of reasions many stated above.

Perks are also rarely used in the CT peoioud, the only thing that I have spent them on lately has been the Tiger, and I had so many perks in the vehical catagory this was kinda a joke I had had like 1200 vehical perks thats a lot of 15 point tigers:)

So in short your not realy losing anything to lose your perks since most all the set up's have no perk rides, and those that do do for a reasion.

Shane, I do.  I fly with friendly icons only and I usually leave after one death (although not always).  I don't mind if you guys have other rules.  I was just stating that I have fun that way.

Perhaps it is the most fair way, but our experience in the Solomons recently showed that it doesn't work.  Remember all those P40s that people were ferrying up to the front?

I managed to spend more time than usual in the CT this weekend (waiting up for prom daughter), and it seemed to me that the perk thing is working out well.  Saw a couple of P38s, wouldn't be able to tell if there were any G10s operating, but mostly people flew D11s, 51Bs, G2s and G6s.  The fights were fun, generally the numbers were even....all was good (except I did see an increased emphasis on bombing things....do you get perks for that?....if so, would explain many things).
