Title: Trial period problem
Post by: qts on March 28, 2003, 04:16:20 PM
My boss is a fan of combat flight sims, and seemed interested when I mentioned AH (after my appraisal, we had a deep discussion on how to attack a JU88). And I've lent him my Saitek X36. Ordinarily, I'd recommend he avail himself of the two-week trial, but he has a demanding job and a {w/l}ife. So during the two-week period, he might only log once or twice - definitely not enough to form an impression.

I'd like to suggest that HTC redefine the trial account to a limit of 15-30 mins in any one day but over a period of a month.

i agree, the first day i went into the MA my 2 weeks started, and the day after i went on a 10 day cruise and i got gypped outta 10 days, so i only played in the MA about 3 hours until my time ran out , it stinks, but now i just play in H2H

Maybe the trial period should be based on actual "flight time". Say ... 5-10 hours?

Actually I think trial period should be "40 hours"  a two week period but measured by the hour spent playing

or 40 deaths, then they gotta pay...or, perhaps we could establish a "vulch" fund where we "oldtimers" add a dollar to our bill (kinda like the good neighbor fund on your electric bill..if you actually pay it) to fund guys who essentially die trying to get up. Now thats charity!

That would mean an extra job for some, which would mean less quality vulching......errrr umm flying time. :D

When I first signed up I got some very good advice.

That was to NOT enter the arenas and start the two week trial until I felt comfortable with the FM by flying offline first.

Learning and getting used to your particular stick setup, the FM and such things as gunnery, TO's and landings < snicker > IMO shouldn't be during the two week trial....well, I guess if you like getting clubed by Nanook repeatedly then go for it, there won't be too many complaints from the other players.

Agreed, MrLars, BUT, the online experience is so vastly different to gaming offline that it takes some while getting used to.

For instance, our hapless newbie might find himself starting at a field being vulched...

Here's a problem...

My cousin was over, saw I was playing, liked it..... we took the time to create him a new account and was gonna let him get some perks for his account, tried to log in and he got the message 'this area requires a subscription your free trial period has elapsed' [or something along that line] and we had just created his account 5 mins before

Can anyone explain this?
Is it because it was on the same computer my account is on???

Maybe something similar to the Newbee arena in Air Warrior. Once you reached a certain score you no longer were allowed any ammo... essentially forcing you into the "real" world. Maybe the trial period in AH could last until 20 kills are achieved. (pick a number)
