CNN is also known as the Communist News Network around here. They're not our ONLY source of news, or are they even reguarded as the best of the multiple news networks we have.
I tend to sample a bit from a lot of different news outlets. The BBC is my home site for my web browser for instance.
But the next time I read somebody from Europe or Russian who says, "Well your CNN propaganda machine said this hilarious fact...."
Well good for you. You got duped. Have fun beleaving what you want.

I'm actually watching more MSNBC now.

Fox News.

I have limited the amount of timew I spend watching the news. At first I was glued to the tube every free minute. Now I have started just doing a quick catch up of TV "news" once a day. The reason is not that the news was good or bad, but that it wasn't news. They were spending all kinds of time doing what the network contends is "analysis". I find their analysis to be nothing more than secons guessing.
The tone used and the "experts" seem to be bent on providing the absolute worst case scenario that has not happened to the point where it is downright depressing. No one that has any reasonable amount of strategic or tactical knowledge expected this thing to be done in a week. Yet the news flacks seem to want to project that all is lost since the iraqi's did not roll over in the first 15 minutes. What balderdash.
The "newsies" need to drop the sensationalism and ratings game and get back to reporting news, not providing play by play "color and analysis" by those who don't have a copy of the freaking play book.
Reporting news should be providing facts about what has already happened, not speculation and second guessing abount something that has NOT occured. Unfortunately that is not what we are seeing. These newsies are making the news up as much as they are broadcasting suppositions and guesses. Utter tripe.

yes , Maverick, every few minutes they have "BREAKING NEWS"

Fox.
Though 1/4 of my workday is spent in my car driving to assignments, I actually listen to more AM radio than watch t.v. for news/editorials.

I'm a younger generation :)
Fox news is a joke if you'd prefer to listen to some liberal propaganda.

CNN has a Conservative bent. FOX is a laughable joke as a news station, but does a good job acting as the mouthpiece of the GOP.
-
CNN is mildly right wing for us here, to the right of our right, but tolerable, so when we try to like you, we think of CNN.
From here, Fox seems an ultra right wing freak show. It goes further than just disgusting, more into the terrain of "these guys can't be for real".

CNN has a Conservative bent.
Where are they hiding this bent?

I flip the TV back and forth between fox and cnn. I find both to be equally as uninformed. Neither have any idea how to break down the information they are given and both seem to be put out that the government won't tell they every sorded detail on things.
I find it funny when people call the media a mouthpeice for anyone. I can't really say I've seen that done much since 92-2000. The Clinton administration was by far and away the best at guiding the media. They had one simple philosophy: Give them enough news every day to keep them busy and you can dictate the news they report and keep them too busy to look for other stories. Clinton flourished and the media loved that he recognized their "importance".
The Bush administration left the media to their own idleness. Given the absence of stories, the media must create them. Its a serious pr blunder. Fortunately, pretty much everyone seems to have forgotten that in unison.
Then we get to the war and Bush's pr staff pull their heads out of their bellybutton and realize the secret to success. Give them enough to keep them busy... and don't tell them any more. If they ask for more, point out that you could be giving them less and watch them clam up. I've not seen such a well behaved questioning group in some time.
Unfortunately, the news media is primarily a bunch of morons. They are well pronounced, seem very well kept but really have little idea how to do anything but look and sound good. They glom on to catch phrases such as "shock&awe" and "regime" and whatever else the continuall repeat just because the spokespeople are using them and they don't want to sound like they aren't "In the know".
No story on why the Bush administration started prolifically using the word "regime" after dropping a couple bunker busters (and some 40 cruise missiles) on saddam's palace. And they seem to think that bringing 100 different "experts" in to disect every move and forcast the news is something everyone wants.
I think they are spending too much time trying to make the war entertaining.

He's right. Faux News is run by an old Bush friend....Fair and Balanced is a slogan, not the way they run their news service.
