Does anyone know anything about squad based missions in the TOD arena? will squads be able to make their own missions? i.e C/O's only can make missions other than generated missions?? like to know more about this side of things :)
-
I'm under the impression that only HTC (or CMs) will produce missions. Perhaps when an individual achieves a certain rank then they may be able to do that too?
As for squads... I don't think there will be squads like in the MA; it'll be a case of your squad members trying to join the same flight so you can fly together. How large a flight will be is unknown?
-
I'm a bit dissapointed to see squads won't be available in AHII:TOD and from what I've read everything will be generated by HTC and the CM's as Nexx says.
-
SHOULD be the other way around,it should be fixed up so it caters MORE for folks in squads, which surely would be a much more realistic setting for a WW2 arena? weird. Old style MA for 242 then.:(
-
The interview didnt necessarily say squads would go away just that the way squads work in the main wont work in AH2:ToD.
That could very well mean no squads but I think that if that happens it will hurt the numbers.
I really only wanna fly with my squad and have no real desire to fly with anyone else.
Squads are a real important part of these types of games and ignoring that would be the wrong way to go.
-
Huh???
Think for a moment... I see no reason your squad can't fly missions in AH2.. BUT the missions will be open to everyone as far as I know.. So you squad may all join a particular mission, and other players can too...
I believe at least in the beginning all missions will be scripted on the host.

I got the impression from this (http://simhq.com/simhq3/sims/interviews/ah2/) interview at SimHQ that squads would not be part of AHII:TOD.
Will squads have to fly on the same side during the conflict, or can one squaddie fly for the Germans while his buddy flies for the Americans?
The Squad format of the main arena won’t be a part of ToD

You guys are just not reading....
NO WHERE does it say there will be no squads in AHII.
(below is a quote from the interview)

I'd already quoted above, where does it say there will be squads in AHII:TOD? It would be nice to get some clarification on this from HTC, it's troubled my squad members since reading the interview and there is no other information to go on.

That quote says
Squad format
It could very well mean no squads. But as I said I dont think its in HTs intrests to eliminate squads from AH:TOD2.
I suspect there maybe a different format then no squads altogther.
The wording is rather ambiguous so I wouldnt go making assumptions until we have more clarity.
As I said above I no intrest in "lone wolfing" and only want to participate with my squadmates to develope tactics. You cant do this unless folks fly regilarly together. But we will see

It's all we have to go on. Questions were asked about squads before the interview and again HTC decided to stay quiet. I certainly hope they do have some sort of squad system as it's my squad that keeps me playing Aces High. This TOD format is really make or break for me now in online sims.

And where does it say there will be no squads in the ToD arena? What I got from the interview is that squad format in the MA won't transfer over to the ToD arena, i.e. members of the squad can't fly for two different countries, etc...
Of course, if we ever get that updated FAQ it will go a long way of clearing up some questions or misconceptions.

From what I've read, the squad format we have in the MA now will not translate to the ToD.
-
Real squads were rather small and always flew together. (correct me if I'm wrong) But chances are squad size will be limited, and won't be MAW-type hoards. I really doubt HT will remove squads altogether... The AH2-TOD seems to be aimed for realism. Squads of 6-8 seem to be the way to go. (I'de like it. lol)
As for the missions, I doubt bomber groups and escorts all clashing every mission would be much better than not getting any resistance. Also, if all we can do is fly missions, will GVs be wiped out totally from the TOD?
I wish the creators and admins would let us in on SOME of this. It's cruel! ;)

Well.....to me saying the squad format from the MA won`t be a part of ToD is saying there will be no squads. I think it wouldn`t be a bad idea for someone at HTC to say yea or ney.
IMHO I don`t see a lot of ToD ,(as layed out so far), that would interest the hardcore MA player. For example, players being rated by other players. Eew boy, this would open up a squirming can of worms. lol Seems to me, as I`ve said before, ToD will be set up on the "jump through a hoop for a bone" system. I think ToD , simply put, will be another game entirely which will lean more to the "here today , gone tommorow" gamer , not the long term sim pilot. This could be good for the other part of the game IMHO (classic) in that it will keep the 2 weekers occupied. Anyone that has played for more than a couple of months can easily pick the ones that will stay in the game and the 2 weekers from the influx of new participants.
What I`m interested in is more info on what I consider our part of the game (Classic). Such as what changes other than the engine will be made. Personaly I hope there`s not a great deal of changes. I would like to see the bugs that we have now worked out and leave us with a good, solid, depenable MA.
