Title: messed up asus board dont know what to do
Post by: lord dolf vader on March 29, 2003, 07:49:33 PM
Hi there all i have a tech question that has been bugging me for a while . just dont know how to ask this question. alot of folks here have more experience with this sort of stuff.

i purchased a asus av7266c about 8 months ago i believe. board worked great as advetized till i attempted to update bios. I know its the same old story but really my floppy disk is failing periodicly and chose the writing bios sectors time to start.
well we ordered a new bios chip from bios world recognizing there was no hardware at fault. we put it in and installed it and nothing, well the led lights up but it wont post ect. my wife spent 3 hours witht the manual and swaped out every other part memory hard drive power supply ect ect literaly every one including prosesor and battery. i finnaly went and purchased another board. so now i am left with the 30 buck bios chip and a 120 buck board (when i bought it)
can it be repaired ? will asus do so for a price? it is still under warentee is it a swap out or fix thing like hard drives ? any info much appreciated.

Straight from ASUSTeK Computer (http://www.asus.com/support/english/techref/warranty/index.aspx)

Motherboard:
3 years;  All ASUS motherboard purchased after November 1st, 1999 will carry 3 year standard warranty services worldwide. One year limited warranty is given to purchase made prior to this date.

They will cross ship you a board if you give them a CC#. I have had to do it for a buddy of mine and I got the board within 3 days of calling and getting my RMA #. If you don't ship it within a few days of getting the RMA # they will charge you for shipping and the cost of the new board.
