Checkpoint failed to give warning shots?
The complete opposite has been widely reported. Care to point to a source?

You don't need an account, they just want to know how old you are, where you live, and if you've had any anti-american thoughts in the past 2 years.

No biggy, normal propaganda
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A61229-2003Mar31.html
"Fire a warning shot," he ordered as the vehicle kept coming. Then, with increasing urgency, he told the platoon to shoot a 7.62mm machine-gun round into its radiator. "Stop [messing] around!" Johnson yelled into the company radio network when he still saw no action being taken. Finally, he shouted at the top of his voice, "Stop him, Red 1, stop him!"
That order was immediately followed by the loud reports of 25mm cannon fire from one or more of the platoon's Bradleys. About half a dozen shots were heard in all.
"Cease fire!" Johnson yelled over the radio. Then, as he peered into his binoculars from the intersection on Highway 9, he roared at the platoon leader, "You just [expletive] killed a family because you didn't fire a warning shot soon enough!"

So..the US Army are a bunch of murders ehh? Why dont you go **** yourself you tool. Its gonna be so interesting to see just how badly the Iraqi government has abused its people after this war. Maybe then we can sit back a enjoy the can of "eat sh(*" you'll be enjoying you salamander.
Once again...to display my typical American non european sense of style, **** you.

Oh and has it every occured to you why this guy ran a check point w/a VAN full of kids? I quess it couldnt be a setup ehhh? Saddams boys would NEVER do something like that right?

I guess given the proclaimed & all ready practiced suicide car bombing tactics of Iraq, part of this tradegy rest on the shoulders of Iraq. If they had never done the car bombing in the first place & stated more of it was coming, this never would have happened. Given there is a war going on, if a car fails to stop at a check point, they deserve to be shot, regardless of who is driving.

And will hopefully be dealt with by the Haag.

Considering the circumstances facing those soldiers, and the tactics by the Iraqi militia it is completely unjustified to call it murder. Tragic mistakes will happen - but it is a war zone, and this what can happen.
There can be no real blame on these soldiers unless some evidence can be brought forward that it was a deliberate act, which in my opinion , those troops are simply not capable of.

Crabs,
Why havent you applied for a job at NBC yet? I hear they have a position open as of yesterday.
"This is Crabs, reporting LIVE from Baghdad! Weve just recieved word from our top anaylist that American troops are raping and murdering Iraqi civlians! Its difficult to see in the darkness, but I can just make out 5 US soldiers playing soccer with the head of an old Iraqi women! Even though we're in the business of reporting facts, we're going to give you our take on what is about to happen! You see - once the Americans are done committing these vial atrocities against the free people of Iraq, they will probably move north, into the commercial district of the city and round up all the civilians. They will then horde them together in a large building and set it on fire. Rumor from the rear has it that marshmellows are being brought up for comsumpiton! This is indeed intolerable!
We warn you that what youre about to see may be difficult to watch! We will issue a withdrawl for our statements later, but first, lets measure the opposition that Americans have to this war!
Excuse me! Young lady! What do you think about American soldiers raping and murdering civilians!?!?"
"I think its horrible! Bush is Hitler! He was never elected! Its all a scam to blind us from the truth! Vive la France! Babykillers! American soldiers are committing atrocities! Im concerned about innocent lives! No war for oil!"
"There you have it folks, 100% of Americans are against the war! What will President Bush do now?!
This is Crabs, LIVE from Baghdad! Be sure to tune in after I grant my interview to Iraqi State Television! But FIRST! Stay tuned for our interview of a weak young Iraqi girl who was paralyzed when an American bomb struck a hospital she was recieving care at!!
All this and more when Iraq Gets Crabs returns!"

You know... your spew there shows you dont know dick about our people in the service. American Soldiers and I'm sure the Brits as well do not get off killing kids and or women. Historicaly this has been used against us. Those kids where in a VAN..perhaps this means COVERED UP as in the troopers had no way to tell what was in there I assume.
Its been reported they fired warning shots... this driver STILL tried to escape... they had no choice at that moment to do otherwisw was to risk the lives of thier comrades.
And yea..killing whoopee kids sucks ass. But I bet when its all over we'll see the butcher bill leans pretty whoopee heavy in favor of Saddams people.

This kind of things happen always when at war. Its not avoidable.
1. I think those soldiers have gotten their "punishment" already when they unloaded those bodies out of the van.. I think no one of them will forget.
2. Its unjust to blame Iraq causing this. Theyre just defending their country , like all of us would if someone you personally think is invading your country. Like 60 years ago when soviets attacked Finland. They also came to liberate us from our government, got a bloody nose. I dont think any of you would not be doing the same.
3. Also blaming US.. well they called it a war for freedom.. well I think Iraq people doesnt want it. Its their choice. So when this kind of things happen more and more, the cause is lost. All Iraquese will be fighting against coalition soon which I dont hope. Things get really ugly then, like in vietnam.
4. .. and then all goes down to drain..
But still dont blame the soldiers, theyre just tools. And its THEIR lives the politicians bet.

Absolutely nobody 'asked' you for liberating them. That's another lie to justify a strategic war for gain control over the middle-east.
If there's anything good coming out of this for iraq people after this war that will be a benefit, call it collateral dammage, the true goals from your government are totaly different and they don't care for dead civilians.

Calm down guys. U cant accuse the US soldiers for killing those civilians. At least they are humans too!!! They are afraid and insecure and all these stories about human bombs made them very very nervous - understandable IMO.
The only one u can blame is the US government but thats another story...

I'm not there, neither are you. We only form our own opinions from what we get through the media. That information depends on your media source.
According to mine, prisoners taken said they fight out of fear of Saddam, and what may happen to their families.
It is, however, a fact that many Iraqis support the war. It is also fact that as some towns are liberated, the citizens gladly show the coalition forces where the RA had arms stores. It is also fact that some Iraqi citizens are fighting WITH the coalition.
Therefore, while I am unable to say that most Iraqis support the war, I can say many do.
Only time will tell.

That would settle things and there would be a lot less wars, because no one self aware politician will ever endanger HIMSELF..

It's not as much about oil as you think it is, not on our part. If the U.S. wanted, it has the technology to make oil obsolete. Do you recall what happened during ww2 when we could not get rubber from Japan?........that's right, synthetic rubber. But we would collapse the world economy if we did such a thing. Ask Boroda what would happen if oil prices took a dive. The oil spin is propoganda my friend.

Kuwait wouldīnt even been noticed by US media nor US , if it wasīnt because of the fact: they have oil that you need.
It is a little land created by westworld to gain control of: OIL.
Theres nothing more there. They have no history of being a country before the discovery of oil.

America was threatened in no way by Iraq, it was just plain ridiculous- it's an "Angriffskrieg"

The fact that Saddam is an evil POS that kills people does not alleviate your troops responsibility to minimize civilian casualties ... no matter what means or tactics Saddam's forces employ.
You don't think our forces are trying to minimize civilian casualties?
We sure are wasting a lot of precision weapons that cost a lot of money, could just revert back to the old 1000lbers and carpet bomb the place.
Be a lot easier and wouldn't cost any coalition lives.
Lets face it, they are doing their best to minimize civilian casualties and at the same time minimize our own. It's a difficult balancing act.
Telling the difference between civilians and soldiers has gotten to the point that its near impossible.
The Iraqis are the ones putting the burden on the coalition forces to minimize civilian casualties, while at the same time they are picking their own off and intentionally sending them off their deaths.
This is by no means a conventional war, uniformed soldiers the coalition is not fighting.
Easy to blame and point fingers, but you'll rarely find those same people to take the lead.

Doesn't matter what you call it, really. You're powerless to do anything about it.
I'm not powerless, i just can't stop that mess as much as i would love to.
But i can show my disagreement with this war and that IS important because it's only the first of many to come if we don't do anything about it.

You can't stop it, because the majority disagree with you.

I wonder why the van didn't just stop, eh?
Roadblock, military, military vehicles.
Probably seen vehicles stopped at checkpoints before too.
If the van had stopped... would this thread exist?
Put in the parlance of any professional accident investigation, what was the primary causal factor?
Thank you.
