How about freezing time for 15-30 min with sub-dawn, or sub-dusk, as shown in the photo below? This still allows for players to see silouettes...right now the transition hardly stays for but a couple of minutes...

Zig, I ZOOMED in on that photo, not much, but it is zoomed, its alittle out of perspective. (Similiar of what you do with a zoom lens on a camera)
Could be, never measured it! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Yeah, the sun and moon should (appear to) be the same size in the sky. (Also, contrary to popular belief, neither one is "magnified" near the horizon.)

You'll most often see the effect, earlyfall in the western US.
(sumpin to do with all the smog and garbage in the air...)

My Bro moved to Oz a couple of years ago and he said at times the Moon looks absolutely huge hanging over the horizon, much larger then it ever did in the Chicago area. Of course, the moon in those photos is over the Phillipines, so I don't know how it would look there. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

BTW- CC what Ripsnort said...if we can't have night, give us longer transition times.

When I was 17 I lived in Marin Co. California, just north of San Fransico. We used to take girls up to the top of Mt. Tamalpias which was the highest mountain in the area. This When the moon came up I couldn't believe how freaking big it was. It looked MUCH larger than a basketball at arms lentgh. It was almost like looking at it through a telescope (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) realy beautiful...
