Title: Skuzzy what about ME

In your hints and tips you mention how to turn off programs
    that are not needed for 2000 and XP.
   
          what about windows  ME , how do we we ( fine tune )

I think for ME your best bet too "tune" it would be to replace it with 2000 or XP Pro

You can click on the Start button, select Run and type MSCONFIG then click on OK.

When the MSCONFIG pops up, click on the Startup tab and you can deselect any programs that you don't want to start up when Windows boots up.  You can also get a program like EndItAll that will let you shut down programs that aren't listed in your Ctrl+Alt+Del panel.

Absolutly, ME is the the worst, i kept getting lockups, games would freeze, bluescreens everything!
Then i formatted my PC and loaded XP on it and u would be amazed how much better it was! ;)
Plus everyone i have talked to that has ME says it is a pile of crap :(

Sure XP is better than ME. ME is still running on MSDOS like windows98/95/3xx. XP is based NT, which uses an OS/2 kernel - technology from 1988.

You didn't really expect Microsoft to catch up with IBM in the year 2000, did you? So they're now reusing what they co-developed with ibm 15 years ago...
