Cold as hell (about 45 degrees is the house) pissed off and Bored as hell!  No internet  no TV  all i got is a crappy radio to listen to while i sit in the dark sipping beers to try and stay warm No generator nor kerosen heaters to be found!  This sucks!

But whats the longest you've lost power for?

We just had a ice storm here in NY. Power was off from thursday to sunday. We had another one in 1991. The power was off for 14 days that time.

We went over 20 minutes the other day.... The inside temp of the house almost dipped below 72. But then we opened the door and let the 85 degree air in to warm the place.

9 days after Hurricane Celia in Corpus Christi, Texas.  We lost our house in that one as well.

We got hit with the hail storm, here, the other night, but power stayed up.  Lost some windows in my house, and the roof is pretty mangled as well.

I haven't been without power or heat for 14 years because
A) The houses I've owned have Gas furnaces  and
B) I have a generator
:D

Since most of my neighbors are ill-prepared, I like to keep my porch lights on during power outages just as a "Neener Neener" :p

I hear the Iraqi's have built a "light sensor bomb".

They plan on hitting Washington State somewhere, but not to worry. The govt. will just shut off the power when it gets close.

Hey, Skuz. I weathered Celia onbase (as a dependent). We got in the `ol Rambler and took it to the hangar then were shuttled to the armory building where us kids (who had no fear) had a blast playing games and staying up as late as possible while the storm raged outside. We were on the 3rd or 4th floor (I think the 4th - up 4 flights of stairs with mom's wheelchair). I remember hearing a shattering noise and someone having to put a lock and sign on one of the bathrooms as someone said "good thing nobody was in there."

After the storm passed (the next day) we went back to our old housing duplex. We were missing a screen door and the carpet tiles soaked loose. Oh, and we lost our TV antenna.

The new housing onbase (officer and higher nco) was obliterated. Looked like piles of toothpicks. It was theorized that the older duplexes weren't as "pressure tight" so most of them survived ok.

I think we had power when we got back, though. I remember watching the B&W portable TV that evening. Even the folk's console stereo/tv came out ok.

Anyhow ... just reminiscing.

BTW ... if we're the same age. Did ya go to "Flour Bluff" school?

(edit) Ahhh ... just noticed you're 48. That puts ya 7 yrs my senior. I also remember the Blue Angels flying the F4 Phantom at Corpus back then. What I wouldn't give ....
