MSNBC is reporting that Saddam and his sons along with other high level Iraqi officials have been killed. A B1 Bomber dropped 4 2000 lb JDAM bombs on a location that, according to "Extremely Reliable" Intelligence, Saddam was holding a meeting. The Bomb crater is so big that it may be very difficult to find any remains.
Anyone have a Stick & Spoon? :D

FOX running video of what may be the actual bombing on the night the war began in a feed from an Arab news channel.
The Video shows a remarkable array of HUGE explosions hitting the same target. Looks maybe a dozen of very big hits.
I hope Saddam is in hell now.

Yoh NUKE, keep up!! I'll believe it when they do DNA analysis on the itty bitty bits of people parts floating back to Earth for the several days.

with saddam a smear in a suburban crater, i'll bet this'll be over in a week.
hope that defense minister wasn't there.. bee a hoot to have him put out his last broadcast with a jarhead and a grunt smiling beside him.
-
I'll hold off till there is confirmation.
-
I would very much prefer if Saddam is alive. He should be tried, either internationally or, better yet, by a new Iraqi government and his crimes should be openly published to the world.
-
I'll also hold off my excitement until this is CONFIRMED. I dont believe anything on Fox.
But I really hope its true, at last.

yo Airhead calm down, I never said I confirmed Saddam was killed...I said Fox was running video of what may be a building where Saddam was.
Whatever ....I am watching huge bellybutton explosions hitting the same target and I hope Saddam was in there.

This sucker is harder to kill than a cockroach but we can always hope.
In the end it's just a matter of time.

CNBS said that video that they are showing is not related to JDAMS 2000 poundrs rocking Suddam.

That guy deserved the bullet in the head, he was a VC assasin who just murdered a whole family of a soutyh vietnamese official. :(
BTW General Nguyen Ngoc Loan, the man carrying out the act of justice in that picture, just recently passed away in Virginia.
-
The videos of the bombs being dropped at night are not videos of the most recent attempt on Saddam. It happened at 2pm Iraqi time. Seems to be alot of conflicting information. I was skeptical of his death before... I still am.
I'm curious to see what the Iraqi Minister of Information has to say in the next 24 hours.

They say on Fox that US spec ops were eavesdropping on the meeting while it was taking place. Allegedly they were discussing ways of getting out of Dodge. Alas, too late. :)
-
I'll wait till it's confirmed too.
It must be a hell of a PR Job what that Minister has to do...
Saddam: Go out & tell them that we are winning, The coalition forces are surrounded! We drove em off with our muskets & Sabres!
Def Ministr: But Sir....
Saddam: Go! Or I'll have your balls for supper!
Def Ministr: Yessir!

I saw the crater it left. Good luck confirming anything.

the place isnt that far from areas controlled by the US Army; wonder if the 3rd Inf. has a steam shovel?

The world would be a better place without him. He's not the only one though.

Dear Saddam,
Boeing hopes you enjoyed your, er, flight. We hope you appreciate the extensive test and research that our engineers did on the JDAM's units attached to standard Mk 84, BLU-109's, Mk-83 and BLU-110's.
Good day.

Hristo just a few weeks ago: Who is US to patronize on anyone ?
Your president spends billions on aggressive war.
Your president doesn't care for UN.
Your president considers Iraqi civilian losses acceptable.
Again, who is GWB to decide if SH is good or bad for the world ? He is one of the worst scums to got elected.
I say Iraqis fight for freedom.

I stand by everything I said.
World without Saddam will be a better place.
World without GWB will be even better place.
I'd like both to pay for sufferings they caused.
Unfortunetely, I don't think Iraqi people will notice the difference. Also, I don't think it is all over yet. Not until last US soldier gets out of Iraq.

Do you really think that?

You said the world would be even better without GWB, that is plainly a comparative stament of relative harm done or posed by each.
-
The success fo the operation doesn't justify it. It was just a well performed aggression.
Good thing is that dictator is gone. Bad thing is that many civilians died, while they will never see any real difference.
The biggest change will be McDonald's logo instead of Saddam's picture starng at them on somemain square.
Oil money will go in US pockets now, instead of SH and his clique.

I hope its true I really do, but I hoped for a whole body hanging by the neck at the hand of his own people.
What is he went down in a tunnel (or his lookalike) we think he is dead and don’t look for him as hard?
Or he is testing our Intel to see if we can track him and how?

Hristo you are utterly ignorant and uninformed. I have a natural affinity to my Croatian background and to my people, but you my friend are pushing it.
In that light was the Krajina offensive justfied?
Was it worth taking back Slavonija, I lived in Vinkovci so maybe living under the kind serbs who shelled my home and murderd my uncles in Vukovar hospital and nearly decapitated my mother are is different than today.
Was it worth defending Vukovar?
Your stance is so idiotic and stupid and evil and retarded and hateful of america and dumb and every other bad word in the world - I'm simply at a loss of words.
You make me ashamed to be Croatian...
-
Finaly, an old bastard is dead :)

btw How many collateral dammage will 4* 900 kilogramm TNT in the middle of a civilian area cost?
And don't forget : This is still an 'Agression War' on a sovereign country with violation of international law.
-
Grunherz, I don't see your point.
For the record...
In 1991 Serbs started an aggressive war against Croatia. "To save Croatian Serbs who were at the edge of extermination. " Some 70-80 % of Serb population supported that war. Hell, maybe even 100%. They tried to assassinate Croatian president in an airstrike. Their war propaganda worked very well in their country.
To stand against the aggressor then was the only thing right to do. People were losing their homes to artillery attacks and airstrikes, civilians were targetted. Etc etc - you know the story.
The war in Iraq started with GWB. He somehow discovered Iraq being a great threat to world peace. Months of military preparations, but most important - he just couldn't find the reason. UN said they can't find WMDs. UN didn't approve military actio. GWB started a war anyway. Now, that's an aggression. Were WMDs discovered afterall ? And even so, would that mean every country having WMDs will get attacked ? If so, world is sure no safe place with GWB around.
Iraq was attacked. Iraqis fought back as they could. They were overwhelmed. That's all. Not everyone will consider US a liberator. Especially the ones who lost their loved ones to cinical expression "collateral damage".
This war produced a good thing. A despot is removed. Maybe Iraqis will have a chance to watch CNN, Oprah or use Internet.
Let's just see how long it takes for US to withdraw out of Iraq. If ever.
-
Yes blitz the USA is evil, always and forever even when we are not evil we are still evil.
When will that proud little dictator Saddam get his apology?
-
But the Crotians under serb occupation wouldnt know the difference - the Croatian governmemt is just as bad as the serb death squads. Look I'm absolutely sure that my mother would have faced decaptiation by the Croatian government sooner or later had the seerbs not attacked - she wouldnt know the difference - so why bother with the war.
You agree of course? the croatian government after the war went around trying to decapitate middle aged croatian mothers by lobbing mortars on their froint porches?
-
He probably checked with his minister of information to make sure it was safe before going.

Again, I don't see the connection.
Sure Saddam was bad for country. Even if he was the kindest leader of all, bringing your country to international isolation should be enough to make anyone step away from power.
He was bad for allowing his rule be an excuse for an aggression.
Now, I am a bit too old to think that GWB is all nice elderly man with just not-the-brightest look. The kind of person who spends 75 billions $ of hard earned money so some Mustafa from Kut could have his Internet connection instead of watching Saddam's statue in the park. Or are you telling me just that ?
So, WMDs are the reason ? Hmmm, so far they have stayed invisible. I am sure some of it will be found though. Just as you can find them in every country, except, Lichtenstein, for example. Does that mean only Lichtenstein is safe from mother-of-all-bombs doing collateral damage?
US is there to stay. Until there is no oil or our cars start running on water. It would be just an interesting fact, if it didn't cost thousands of human lives.

US cannot impose or lift sanctions. UN can.
As for oil, why pay for it when you can have it free.
Now, if the war wasn't for oil, shouldn't US troops get out once Iraq is "secured" ?
-

Hristo the US and UK were the only countries on the UN security councic who wanted to keep sanctions. China, France and Russia want them gone. If the US anted the sanctions gone it would be done fast.
Are you saying we will steal the oil, like take it and not pay for it? Do you have any evidence of tjis or are you just chanting something you read on a protest sign?
Yes our troops will leave when iraq is secured. Funny thing about this if we left right away day after cease fire you would come back here in a year saying we abandoned iraq, if we stay there for a bit longer will say we are stealing the oil.
-
As occupatants, US should leave ASAP.
Having an UN mandate, it would be competely different story.

I live in a country which has very well felt what an aggressive socialist big brother is, you know.

Grunherz, do not talk about yourself. You've been sitting back in the States. You makes this sound like you are sitting on one of the Iraqi oil wells yourself.
US shouldn't have been in Iraq in the first place. At least not without UN resolution but as a part of UN delegated force.
An aggression without proof wasn't enough ?
Oil wells intact being among top priority targets weren't enough ?
GWB belonging to oil company lobbies wasn't enough ?
Leaving UN out of future Iraq governement doesn't concern you ?
Announcing US forces will stay in a country, which, interestingly, has 2nd largest oil reserves on the planet. Not enough yet ?
Please ....

proof that he wasn't cooperating? 12 years of proof isn't enough?
It is UN's role to take measures when someone doesn't comply with their resolutions. US is not UN.
Oil Wells being that nations sole income, with knowledge that he WILL light them on fire isn't enough?
Oil wells are not Iraq's sole income. The valley of Euphrates and Tigris were feeding the population since the beginning of civilization known to man.
Would he put them on fire if US didn't attack ?
Even if he puts them on fire, it is Iraq's problem, not US problem. You don't want me to believe good old GWB cares about Iraqis, right ?
which lobbies does bush belong to?
His family is involved in companies which deal with arms and oil. Is it a coincidence he pushes for war which uses arms to grab oil ?
on the contrary, we have said that the UN should be part of the future of Iraq, but that they will not run it.
Finally, a good decision. Let's hope we live to see it.

Don't bomb in the first place. I feel you've bombed so you can get there and stay.
