battle of the last panzer. tank commander been at war for 4 years and winds up under tree with delicious french babe who wants him and he is 'to emotionally scarred' from combat to close the deal. this movie sucks so bad that ill bet no one else reading this has even seen it. im almost feeling guilty for telling you boys about it cause i could then be responsible for others seeing this horrible movie.
-
for I := 1 to 5 do writeln('Pearl Harbor');
-
"Pearl Harbor" was so bad, I still cringe when I think that some really young boys who see it will think that's how it happened. By far, the worst war film made in the past 30 years.
-
Come on now, Top Gun should have at least gotten an honorable mention in there somewhere!

Enigma was more set during the war, as opposed to a war film I reckon....but then I can't add my number 5 using that logic
1. Pearl Harbour
2. Red Dawn
3. Rambo 3
4. Wheels of Terror (the Sven Hassel movie)
5. Missing in Action (1, 2 or 3)..actually anything that had Chuck Norris in the 80's....Delta Force, Invasion USA....

If you made that a "Worst Movie", then there'd be no modern jet war movies at all! Besides, "Top Gun" had some redeeming qualities - it sold a lot of Ray Ban Aviator sunglasses, all of the guys tried the "You've Lost That Loving Feelign" kareoke pick-up trick on the girls when the film came out, and now everyone knows proper jet combat lingo - "its gone ballistic!", "Talk to me, Goose!", "I feel the need, the need for speed!", and "I'm taking the shot!". There was also the 2-man sand volleyball scene that sparked the volleyball interest (even though the actors show some of the worst skills ever put on tape).

Well, Rasker nominated Iron Eagle 3, I figured it was only appropriate. :)

Yep..Pearl Harbour.I walked out of the theatre after the big battle scene when Ben Afflek tried acting again.

Sven Hassel made a movie? I read most of his books. I don't know how accurate they are but they make the best action novels ever written.
-
I say, worst war movie is Pearl Harbor because it is so fvcking cheesy.
Close second is Midway because:
1) the historical footage they used doesn't match the action a great many times (like Hellcats instead of Wildcats or even more anachronistic aircraft like Corsairs)
2) the acting was BAD
3)I tried to watch it many times and I never managed to sit through the whole thing. Yuck!

Pearl Harbor
Behind Enemy Lines
Enemy At The Gates
-
1- Pearl Harbor- This pure hollywood tripe took some of the most valient efforts of WWII and put them in Afleck and Baldwin's hands. My wife is still confused. Of course, she thought until last night, that the doolittle raid happened during Vietnam and was fascinated to find CVs had wood decks.
2-Behind Enemy lines- Some of the worst BullChit ever put out about modern combat. Never saw an ejection seat land pefectly intact, standing straight up. Great place to put a harddrive too. Sure, it'll survive! And Owen Wilson has enough money to get a nose job. Get on it, ya flame! Oh, loved the part where a SAM chases the F/A-18 for what...3 minutes, maneuvers with it, and does not run out of fuel. Might have been a good idea to dump those external tanks earlier there, Stackhouse.
3-Midway- Yamamoto's voice is done by the same guy who does the voice of "Burgermeister Meisterburger" in Santa Clause is Coming to Town. (CLaymation movive). I still can't get past this. Acting is terrible, and the action sequences using the raw footage, with the wrong planes, makes this movie semi-crap. The only redeeming quality is at least it tries to be historically accurate.
4- Top Gun- Too much to list. A great disservice to "Duke", the man who Cruise's character was based on. I especially love the -4G inverted dive with the Mig-28..(Which of course was an F-5E) at a distance of 2 meters. Ummm...would'nt the Vertical Stabilizer of the F-5 be going right through the Tomcat at 2 meters?
5-Memphis Belle- Fair movie, but not based in any fact whatsoever. Hell, even the crews names were wrong. Good entertainment, too much BS to reall enjoy.
I'm MuckMAW, and I'll see you.....at the Porn Shop.

No - rally racing - driver and co-driver, much simpler than SOB's... no subliminal messages about sheep, the simpsons, beer, or Dowding.

LOL! The good ol' Burgermeister Meisterburger. I bought "Santa Claus is coming to Town" recently on DVD for my son. What a classic from my early childhood!
You know, the only redeeming thing about "Midway" was that when it was first released, it was recorded in "SENSORROUND". Anyone remember that? How the whole theater would shake when the engines revved up, or a bomb exploded? I thought that was pretty darn cool when I was a young lad.
-
1 Pearl Harbor - The p40's were cool and Kate Beckinsale gives me a chubby but the acting was horrible Ben and Alec were the worst!
2 Enemy At The Gate - Russians with British accents...nuff said
3 Thin Red Line - To deep. The director tried to pull a version of Apocalypse Now during WWII and failed.
Modern War Movie:
4- Behind Enemy Lines- This was suppose to be based on a true story...yeah right.
I don't include Top Gun as a "war" movie it was more like an MTV video with jets. It was very entertaining. Plus it was my girlfriends favorite movie at the time...Top Gun = nookie!

Man... nobody has mentioned "Behind Enemy Lines"? The movie that had an F-18 dogfighting a SAM? The movie that had someone holding a football while the carrier launcher "punted" it into the air? The one that had one guy with a sniper scope first shoot down a plane by personally launching a SAM and then hunt the pilots down as they bailed? The one that had two blackhawks anhialate a light armored division because the entire division were missing them from 100 yards away?
Nah... I must be out of left field on this one.
Oh... and my contriversial choice:
"Flight of the Intruder" - Awesome book, horrible movie. My God.. they cast William DeFoe in it!?!

ROFL funked! :D
I never bother with movies that have been hyped. I wait till they come out, and if the hype dies a death, the movie is probably crap. Certainly seemed to be the case here.
My nomination - Cross of Iron (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0074695), which had James Coburn, and our own James Mason. Boring as hell. Apparently there is a scene in there in which a woman involuntarily gives a Nazi soldier a blow job. I'd walked out of the cinema before that scene was played.

Ugg...Three A6M2's low and slow on the six of a p40b..he outflies them so his buddy the mess hall chef can shoot them down from the tower he had the forsight to climb with a hand mounted MG?
Sorry, they got pounded in that attack..And it was a terrible, horrible example of freedom taking it in the chin...The film did not show why the Pearl Harbour attack should be remembered forever.

Because it was a sneak attack, with no declaration of war..that simple enough fer ya?
And cause a lot of good young men died.

Was great fun to sit there after having just done the first half of SERE the summer before and note how every single thing Owen Wilson did was the complete opposite of what they teach you about surviving. Let's see....eject from plane, touch ground. They almost got that part right.
1: gather up parachute because of all the wonderful uses it has - didn't happen
2: destroy patches/rank/nametag (or at least bury them) - didn't happen
3: Buddy has broken leg, so leave him in the middle of a field to get shot while you go stand on the very top of a mountain to have a look around (making yourself an easy target because you didn't stay on the ridgeline)? It numbs the mind just thinking about it.
4: Wander through burnt out and blown up town that's full of mines? Was this guy suicidal?
5: Asks kid for water. Hey, maybe the gerbil in still making the wheel spin after all. Kid offers Coca Cola instead. He drinks it. Never mind, gerbil is dead.
I could go on, but it was just too hard to pay attention to all the details when we were laughing so hard.
