Great footage and music.
But i was missing the attack on the holel Palestine today where only reporters live :(
American tank fired a grenade into the 15th floor, 2 reporters dead, 1 from Spain , 1 from reuters, several wounded :(
Wasn't by accident as a general told. There had been gunfire out of the lobby to the american troops!
Ops, why did the tank than fires a grenade up to the 15th floor?
Ops, it was impossible to fire from the lobby. Lobby opens to the south, american troups was to the nw.
Ops, reporters, living in that hotel, told there was absolutely no gunfire at that time and had never been out of palestine hotel
Al Dhasira bureau was attacked too, only hours before by american forces, 1 reporter dead, several wounded :(
Abu Dabi TV had been attacked 2 as TV ch reports (No other confirm, yet)
Regards Blitz
-
Awesome!
Gee Blitz, ya don't think for a minute that the Iraqi soldiers that were sniping from that hotel by chance *provoked* that incident, do you? Naaa! ;)
Oh, and by the way, there is a WAR going on, not a good place to report from, unless you are willing to take the risk, no one forced those reporters into the contested area.

The General also said he mispoke when he said the sniper fire came from the lobby.
The General also said CentCom has given repeated warnings to journalists that this is a war zone.
Crawl back into your hole, troller.

Rips , there was no sniping fire and reporters thought at first it was iraq attack.
If it was an accident, why was no investigation announced?

That's called 'free press' in the west and its unnormal to attack reporters for western forces.
Regards Blitz
btw American reporters were there 2, like to know what they say.
Rips, can ya please look for their writings ?

And blitz, in case your "sources" for news are self limited, here is some good new for you since you work with kids....
Agence France-Presse | April 8, 2003
BAGHDAD (AFP) - More than 100 children held in a prison celebrated their freedom Tuesday as US marines rolled into northeast Baghdad amid chaotic scenes which saw civilians loot weapons from an army compound, a US officer said.
Around 150 children spilled out of the jail after the gates were opened as a US military Humvee vehicle approached, Lieutenant Colonel Fred Padilla told an AFP correspondent travelling with the Marines 5th Regiment.
"Hundreds of kids were swarming us and kissing us," Padilla said.
"There were parents running up, so happy to have their kids back."
"The children had been imprisoned because they had not joined the youth branch of the Baath party," he alleged. "Some of these kids had been in there for five years."
The children, who were wearing threadbare clothes and looked under-nourished, walked on the streets crossing their hands as if to mimic handcuffs, before giving the thumbs up sign and shouting their thanks.
It was not clear who had opened the doors of the prison.
Civilians also took advantage of the collapse of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's authority to grab weapons from an army base, said Group Sergeant Jeff Treiber.
As marines were alerted by radio that civilians had seized weapons, Treiber warned that anyone seen to be armed could be a target of US-British coalition forces.
"With the weapons they are becoming combatants," said Treiber. "If they don't take the weapons they will be fine."
Other residents stole air conditioning units, television sets and furniture from government buildings in an echo of the looting that was seen in the southern city of Basra.
A 19-year-old called Haider said people had been ransacking government compounds since the morning to steal weapons and furniture.
"Since the morning, nine o'clock, they have been looting. They are stealing weapons and I took three doors," he said.
At one stage the marines opened fire after coming under attack from snipers, leaving at least two civilians wounded.
One man needed treatment for gunshot wounds to his stomach and left arm.
But his friend, Abdul Amir Jaffa, said he did not resent the Americans despite the shooting.
"Americans are coming to free us," he told AFP.
The marines became increasingly edgy as crowds of people took to the streets to observe their progress.
"It's a problem with so many people in the area. Its hard to tell if there are enemy forces among them. You have to be careful returning fire with civilians all over the place," Lieutenant Anthony Sousa said.
Troops from the Marines' 1st Expeditionary Force also entered Baghdad on the east of the city Tuesday as thousands of armoured vehicles and Humvees poured into the capital for a showdown with Saddam Hussein's troops.

hate to say it, but i agree with Blitz on this one. News channel i was watching (Sky News) had a live feed camera on the roof of the hotel. There was no gunfire from the hotel (none heard from video feed, and none from building according to the reporter who was on the 14th floor when it got hit)
http://www.sky.com/skynews/home there is a video report there if you want to see it, also an interesting poll running on there :)

An apology would have been the minimum standart.
At least i wished to hear that there was an investigation goin on.
Could be commanders overreacted, happens.
But the comments were disgusting :(

Okay..here is a hint. IF YOU DONT WANT TO POSSIABLY GET KILLED WHILE IN BAGDAD...leave. Your in a COMBAT zone. Yes..the US will TRY to avoid killing innocents but somewhere..somehow... somebody WILL f*&K up and mistake some poor slob as a foe.
I feel alot more sympathy for the poor local Iraqies caught in the crossfire. The reporters are just handsomehunkes

Hello? War zone anyone? If you want to be there, you accept the risks, regardless of the cause.
-
If that's true, that kinda makes Sadam worse the Hitler in my book. I didn't think that was posible.
As far as I know he did not round up German kids and throw them in jail for not joining the hitler youth...
Did he?
Another thread brought a back memories of Giligans island...
blintz reminds me of giligan, and sadam is the captain..

He also said they were receiving fire from the hotel. You can't just throw out parts of his statement so it fits your argument. You've been listening to the anti american propaganda machine too long.

Has nothing to do with Hitler.
The tanks were at that place all night.
They knew that there were mostly reporters in palestine hotel and absolutely no attack out of it.
Al Dhasira bureau was well characterized as reporters home.

Again, you left out part of his statement to fit your propaganda. Right after that, he said he misspoke when he said fire came from the lobbey, as he was not told where it came from.
-
Some U.S. troops said they took fire from snipers on the rooftop of the hotel, while Brig. Gen. Vincent Brooks, a U.S. Central Command spokesman, said the fire came from the lobby area. He later said it was uncertain where it came from.
Other soldiers said tanks were taking mortar and grenade fire from in front of the hotel, and saw binoculars trained on them from an upper floor. Suspecting a "spotter" post, they fired.
Frightened reporters in flak vests ran from the hotel while their colleagues carried the wounded to the lobby. Al-Jazeera television showed two people being carried out on blankets and put into cars that took off, apparently for hospital.
Troops told journalists they should hang white sheets from their hotel room windows
Well, lets look at it this way, Blitz is running out of negative propoganda, so he's desparate to find anything bad about the war because he's been sooooooo wrong.
-
Report I heard on the radio from a female reporter(unsure of who--didn't catch name or news service) at the scene.
She said the forces had received sniper fire and had fired on the reporters balcony-they had spotted the camera on a tripod and thought it was a weapon, not sure if true or not - just what she had reported.

Is this the incident where the journalists were watching the tankers through binocs?
From the tankers perspective, that would appear to be a Forward Observer and I could very well see them taking a shot.
The journo's have been warned that they are in a war zone..........
Kinda curious about the "grenade" fired though-doe's the M1 even have the capability to fire frag grenades?

There, by simply changing three words, we can twist your statement to show you what you SHOULD be focusing on. Your redikulouz comments are getting more and more desperate - and whats more - you seem to possess the ability to spout off Weazel-like garbage while maintaining the increasingly annoying "passive, concerned, consciencious objector" status.
This is how I see the situation:
1.) Coalition armor rolled in to secure an area.
2.) Coalition commanders advised the press to hang white sheets from their hotel windows when present.
3.) Reporters did not hang white sheets out of thier windows, and in fact, pointed a camera out of the window.
4.) Iraqi's around and inside the building open fire on the Coalition troops and mortor rounds begin to come in.
5.) Coalition field commander happened to notice the mortor rounds falling and looked around for a spotter... there he is... with a telescope or a pair of binoculars in the window... he's calling in rounds... 15th floor... FIRE!
6.) Rounds hit 15th floor window and reporters are killed.
7.) Arab, German, and French press jump to report the the "Masacre on the 15th Floor."
8.) American commanders questioned about the deaths. Response is the result of reading points 1-7... "Tough ****. You cover a war - youre at risk. You dont listen to our recommendations to ensure your safety - its not our problem. If youre dumb enough to be pointing a camera at a tank platoon while they're taking mortor fire, the world is better off without you. Next question."
Now get back under the bridge, Ive had just about enough "entertainment" for one day.

btw1: If we speak of Propaganda i would say this 'embbeded' reporter crap is similar in result as Propaganda Kompanie in WW2. And this result is not by accident or circumstances.
The difference is: In WW2 they were ordered what to report.
Today, the 'embeded' reporters work for news channels.
The news channels get their money out of the news, they sell.
If 'embbeded' reporters do report things, commanders don't like ( i don't mean security stuff), they will get kicked out or don't see anything again. It's a more suptile way of censorship than in former times.
That means their employer will lose money and they will be kicked outa job. The 'embbeded' reporters knows that very well.
Government lernt a lot from Vietnam War.
'Embbeded Reporters' have nothing to do with Free Press.
They are part of a big propaganda maschine, if they like it or not.
btw2 : Reporders, who were not 'embbeded' were hindered by US forces all the time and that was not because of security, it was a plan to control media.

In Germany we don't have Fox TV.
Nodody is speaking of a massacre in german Tv.
It's more like reporters are speechless about that attack and the reaction from Washington.

And don't forget : This is still an 'Agression War' on a sovereign country with violation of international law

Rip, you know better than that.
YOU may accept it as a part of your war but "Embbeded" reporters has absolutely nothing to do with Free Press. It's a big lie and ya know that.
The main reason for controlling of media is to avoid pictures of dead babies with bodyparts lost.
Pentagon wants to show a movie with the 6th US cavallery pulling their sabres and running through the dessert to help some settlers....
....BUT WITHOUT blood. As the audience doesn't like blood.
An action movie without any content, thrilling but no information.
Pentagon wants to fool us that a war is clean.
No more Vietnam pictures of tortured enemies or uncensored interviews.
These guys made their homework.
That is a dangerous threat to journalism in general and i hope it won't come down on your homeland in the future.

Blitz do yourself and the rest of the world a favor. Get on a plane fly to iraq grab a AK47 and start shooting at the U.S.M.C PLEASE!!!!!!!!
Or stand next to a AAA piece firing on aircraft.
You may fullfill your ultimate fantasy and get to kill a American.
If a tank fired on that hotel it was taking fire from someone in that hotel. Or it was a targeting mistake. Coalition forces would not intentionally fire on ANY press personel. We are not the Iraqi armed forces you know the guys that fire chemical weapons on thier own people. We are not the islamic extreamists that use babys as bombs to kill babys. You can spew your propaganda from now to the end of time it will never change the facts.
Hail to the new free Iraq and its peacfull people that are ready to live their lifes in freedom and without fear for the first time in 25 years.
Oh one last question blitz are you really the iraqi information minister? Cause you sound just like him.
Read my lips people there are no U.S. military personal in bahgdad. We are killing them where they are and they are retreating. Thats my story and I am sticking to it.
Umm Hmm and thats the truth.

man blitz... i guess coming from a country that was recently under the control of lunatics you are a bit cynical??

I just spent 20 min. writing out the perfect reply to Blitz. Then it occured to me it was a waste of time (it DID have a great line about being God King of the Short Bus Children, but i digress) You can overcome anything in this world except for ignorance. We are facing it with the Arab media, and with yahoo's like Blitz. Heck with them. Let them stay stupid. Just pray they do not breed.
