I jst came across an item that I want to list on E-bay, but I need a French speaker to translate it for me.
It's an old zippo lighter, with a Red Square on it. Inside the square is a white "Iron Cross" type design with the number 9, and a sword going down through it. On either side is a white symbol common of french military. (Not sure what they are called, but they look like corn on the cob partially peeled)
Under this reads "Ratione Aut VI"
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

just had a quick search on google for u and found this http://pages.windhamantiques.com/5079/PictPage/1920653376.html
not sure if thats French, might be latin?

What do you want me to translate ?

The Fleur de Lys is the sybol of the UK's Prince of Wales. 'Ratione Aut VI' looks like Latin to me. Are there no other words, even faded? Is the 'VI' not 'Vi'? Then it would mean 'By Reason or by Force'. Good Latin would be 'Aut ratione aut vi'.

QTS wins the cigar!
Thanks, it is vi, not VI!
Thanks for the help!

I need a Frenchman here...
My suggestion to you is to wait until April 1 of next year and give Straffo a call.
