The amount of 'suckage' for a MS OS is relative to the amount of time it has been available.  XP, being the newest, was released with around 65,000 documented problems.  They have narrowed it down to around 42,000 as of today.
You have problems with XP, you just are not made aware of it.

W2K holds the record for the lowest number of outstanding problem right now, for any MS OS in history.  Because MS has used it for thier server technologies, they have been a bit more agressive in correcting problems with W2K.
