Heres an idea.
Since AH2 will be mission oriented and death will mean more than it does now. Why not have rescue missions? A downed pilot, bailed safely/ or ditched...awaits rescue.
A damaged GV, unable to move, the driver gets picked up by his buddies to live and fight again, no penalties.
These type of missions could be carried out with planes, GVs, even plucking guys out of the water with CV's, PT boats (better yet... a submarine!)
Just a thought.

and a yellow rubber dingy!!!

Dear Hitech,
Last night I was shot down behind enemy lines and had to ditch in the ocean. I was able to get out ok and inflated my liferaft. I knew that a friendly submarine was patroling roughly 50 miles south of where I went down. After seven and a half hours of paddling I discoed. Would you please reinstate my rank and points? If you put me back in my raft, I'm sure it'll only take another couple of days to get to the sub. Would you please consider coding something into the game that allows players to "freeze" where they are so they can take breaks and eat or use the bathroom instead of paddling ... or maybe an "auto-paddle" function? Better yet ... an "offline paddling" option that continues on even if you disco or log.
Sincerely,

hahaha Arlo you are cracking me up these days. :D

Yes,
it is very important to save the pilots that have ejected at the enemy theritory.
Nowdays helecopters are used to bring pilots home but in WW2 years the helecopters made their first steps and could not save ejected pilots. But it is possible to use light planes that can land at grass or even rocky place to save the pilots form be capturing. Light low flying plane just like Piper Cub that can land almost everywere or first helecopters like Bell 47 that flew in 1945.
The rescue missions could be very dangerous but very interesting.

I would like to see a plane like the Westland Lysander (I think thats it) and I would really like to see a seaplane from all the nations that used them. Might make for some nice rescue missions.

sure, but if it had been delayed by 3 weeks, it would have FIRST flown in 1946.
Btw, anyone know the name of that RAF Helicopter that looked like a flying jeep?

The Flettner Fl-282 Kolibri was the first helicopter in military service. In service with the KM by 1943. Lots of variants, but most could carry one or two passengers. Would have been nice to have for rescues. It was surprisinglly fast; 93 mph.

EDIT: Here's a pic of a Kolibri with two passengers in the back.

It's hard to see but it had two counter-rotating props - no need.

This is a good idea - i.e. rescue mission - will add another dimension to the squad game......... interesting... doesn't really matter if it is an early helicopter or a light plane

Yes the most importan in rescue missions to add some new vision to the game - the player not just a man who goes and shoots planes but human. It is very important to know that when you go far to the enemy theretory there is someone that will try to help you and to save your live even going to very dangerous mission with light plane or helecopter without any chances with fighter that can shoot you down easyly. This should add more human feelings for the players - not just the game of kills - but to see the human pilot in the aircraft.
For exemple I hate the pilots that shooting chutes - let the ejected pilot stay alive - you already get your kill.

Do you know in what exectly missions this helecopter was involved?
Adding helecopters could be very interesting as the new type of aircraft with different way of flying

You'd also need an message that says:
"You have been successfully picked up.
In 24 hours you will receive an email
that will tell you if your persona successfully survived hypothermia due to water immersion If your persona survives you will receive an email indicating how many weeks it will be until he has recovered and you can resume play. Please note that your account will continue to be debited during the convalescence period, although you will be unable to play the game except in special standalone scenarios. Alternatively
you can make a one-off payment of
$10 to create a new persona".
I must admit, that if you had to wait several weeks before being able to play again, you'd take good care of your pilot and not do anything risky! Plus if there are people who are absolutely desperate not to wait, then HTC gets an extra $10 :-)
Maybe the game could be an unlimited number of hours - you just pay each time you need to create a persona. You'd have to be rich to do the anti-fuel kamikaze thing, or to continually get up at a vulched field. It would certainly make me practice my skills (or even acquire some!)

Yes, I'd definitely like to see the Lysander and a Catalina or Short Sunderland.
That said, any troop-carrying GV should be able to effect a rescue as should a PT boat

good to read, somone read posts from previous 6 months:D :D
-
Pilot could also be rescued by a GV.

I thought the japanesse had the first helecoptor, and was used to try to drop eggs on subs.

Punt

for a rescue mission we could use the TBY-Catalina ? ;)
