Seems like just the opposite to me. They're just trying to avoid a scene.

They're just trying to prevent some filthy commie rat from using their shrine as a pulpit for his anti-American ravings.  They're willing to risk some bad PR from the liberal media (the beginnings of which can be seen in the second link) in order to show support and solidarity to their fellow Americans.

seems like the ones with balls are the people that speak out against the war, since there are alot more violent pro war nut jobs out there.

Hmmm haven't seen any pro-war riots.  Plenty of anti-war riots though.  It's pretty clear which side is more violent.

Golly-geen funked, were you frothing when you typed that?

Recent comments by the actors "ultimately could put our troops in even more danger," said Petroskey, a former White House assistant press secretary under President Reagan.

Hes just saying his politics are more important then thiers.

Fortunately it has been prevented from happening in this case.  Baseball has denied their stage to a pair of self-styled activists who almost certainly would have used the occasion to jam their radical agenda down the throats of unsuspecting baseball fans.

Or maybe not.

They could have been asked to keep the celebration politically nuetral.

The reason MLB is the coward in this case is because they are afraid of the reaction TO Sarandon not of the possible actions OF Sarandon.

I can't recall ever seeing Robbins or Sarandon "jam their agenda" anywhere.

Petroskey simply turned the whole thing off because he didn't agree with them.

He also said he was surprised at how his political background had been brought to the forefront of the debate.

He made a political decision. Can't understand why he was surprised.

They have a long history of doing just that, dating back to (at least) the 1993 Academy Awards.

They seemed rather reserved at the 2002 Oscars. Just a couple of "peace signs"... nothing more.
