Wal-Mart is not amused.
-
that almost seems illegal!
gotta love the Internet:D
-
Sounds *cough fraud cough* interesting.
-
It is!!
They have a name for it, it's called "shoplifting" and by printing them prior to entering the store it adds about 3 or 4 other charges depending on the state.
They don't have AH in jail as far as I know.
-
How can they get away with a site like that? Can they post info like that?
-
Sure
Information about breaking the law is legal, if not most TV shows and half of the books out there would be gone. It's what you do with the information that counts.
-
walmart is garbage they deserve to get scammed.
-
I'm not sure about that, scooter. Information on how to build a nail bomb would be illegal to distribute I'm sure. 'Conspiracy to cause explosions' is the British legal term, I believe.
-
I'm going to get roasted, but I think I live at walmart.

We in no way endorse the theft of products or services. Re-code.com was created as satire. We intend only to make aware the prevelance of barcodes and begin a critical discussion about what their pervasiveness means. This is not a product designed to be used in any malicious or illegal manner. Any such use is strictly prohibited. You should not use any of the barcodes available from this site for any illegal activity. They are here for your amusement only.
And people use a bong to smoke tobacco :)

Walmart is a sleazy, anti-union, store from hell, that takes hours to get in and out of, and many more times that to return anything that breaks, they have no concept of service or 'customer care'. it's destroying the local owned stores and most of small-town america.
but scammed is just another way to say robbed. and none of the above justifies theft.
-
the RIAA got what it deserved because of theft. And your right petty theft wont hurt walmart in the long run. Just not shopping at that store and trying to get others will help more.
-
yep, I always will shop any store over walmart. and I don't miss it. I know I pay aprox 10% more by shopping at the local Fred Meyer store but the service is 100 times better and if you are not satisfied with the product you can return it in about the same time it takes to make a purchase.
death to walmart
-
Shoplifting is an enormous problem and significantly raises overall prices for everyone else...
-
Darlene has found real good deals on ebay. Got a fantastic deal on new sketchers. Sorry for the hijack.

So true !
Even if we don't have Wallmart here, we have our own superstore that destroy local distribution...

Anarchist Cookbook, a bombmaking guide and general manual for mayhem, is available at Amazon.com for $29.96. Not to mention it's all over the internet. The Earth Liberation Front has information on building electrical bomb timers and various types of firebombs on its homepage. Unless it's national security info, I don't think the government can do much to take it down, even if it's distributed domestically.

It's not available at Amazon.co.uk though, so maybe there's a legal difference coming into play there.

I think so Tarmac, other countries have stricter laws in this regard then we do. For better or worse I might add.

This does not constitute shoplifting per se. It DOES constitute fraud by artifice, burglary and theft by any definition you want to use in the legal statutes. Depending on the local (state) laws it could very easily be a felony and allow you to change your address to a state prison for multiples of years.
Any who consider doing this should be advised that prosecution is VERY likely and this practice just costs us all more at the counter as the retailer will have to make up losses by raising prices.
Thieves are not a benifit to society.
