Title: MIC (voice) trouble
Post by: cue on April 13, 2003, 02:25:04 PM
I have a problem with the mic. A week ago it was working fine but out of the blue it stopped working (in the game). I have tested the mic itself in windows, and it's working fine there (I can hear myself).
I have tried tuning to myself in-game, and I get the channel beep, but no voice.
I have a an old SbLive sound-blaster with a freshly downloaded driver form creative. The sound in the computer is working fine apart from this mic trouble in Aces.

Thank you.

Run DXDiag, then click on the Network tab and check your mic to see if it works in DirectX.

I did not know about this feature in DX.
But "sorry to say" the mic passed all 3, and came out fine.

As a suggestion, try uninstalling the sound card (physically too if possible) and let Windows reinstall it.  Make sure you have the original software on hand.

I have a squad mate who has a similar issue and he reseated his sound card and it worked for a time.  I have had these kinds of things happen to me before.  There was also a "boost" switch on it.  That got him working well.  But alas, the card failed again.  I gave him a link to a good source for parts that I use and have good results. http://www.compuvest.com (http://www.compuvest.com)
