I have a Duron 800 processer. It looks like I can upgrade to a Duron 1.3GHz for about $50. Does this sound right? I am STILL computer stupid!!

I combined answers in your post about memory.  Basically, get out of the Duron and into the Athlon.  You will notice a large performance increase when comparing an Athlon and a Duron side by side.  An Athlon 1.4GHz can be had for about the same 50 bucks.  If your motherboard supports it, an Athlon XP1800+ can be had for about 60 bucks.
