Actually the "K" in K-mart stands for Kresge, the name of the founder of the SS Kresge line of stores which the modern K-mart chain is an outgrowth of.

Gee I wonder why they have all those damn "holidays" in Europe (specifically Germany)...I work for a parent corporation that is German and they don't do half of what they are supposed to 47 weeks out of the year. Mainly because they are coming in late and leaving at lunch time 2 days of 52 weeks out of the year.
Oh here is a tiny list of German holidays that we Americans just wouldn't understand.
