Title: Pacific Late War Setup Fri 18 Apr
Post by: jarbo on April 18, 2003, 03:05:34 AM
DO NOT CAPTURE KNIGHT BASES: WILL ESSENTIALLY CRASH ARENA

Late War: Limited Pacific Matchup
Phillipine map:

*CV Downtime 8 hours*
Carriers will have only F6F-TBM-SBD or A6M5-D3A-B5N enabled. Guns and LVTs disabled.
Destroyers will have Guns and LVTs enabled.

American (Rook):
P-40E
F6F
FM2
B26
SBD (CV only)
TBM (CV only)

Japanese (Bishop):
A6M2
A6M5
N1K2J
KI-61
KI-67
D3A (CV only)
B5N (CV only)

Both:
C-47, M-8, M-3, M-16, LVT4

Ack .7
Fuel 1.5
Radar Ct Norms

Downtimes
Field Obj: 45min
Hangars: 30min
Ack: 20 min

Allied plane choices have been limited to create a more predictable matchup
for the Japanese pilots and also to create a less lopsided A-to-G balance.

ONE MORE MODIFICATION:

I am adding the F4U1 to all allied land bases and one CV instead of the F6F.
Why? My grandfather flew this bird in WWII. He was assigned to VMF-124. He
received an Air Medal for helping route a numerically superior Japanese force
from attacking the Russel Islands and scored one arial victory on this flight.
Today Fri the 18th, (IRL) I pin on Major in the USAF and will be pinning on
actual rank he wore. I hope the community can understand why I chose to
include this aircraft.

Sounds too good to be true F4U1, enabled!, well lets hope that you dont decide to remove it like some CT managers do!!!

I am not a PTO expert but i am sure it did see some service in the PTO? ( LOL)

Major Pace!!!

Wooo Hooo! (sir)

Great plane match up!  I know that they are good when I'm not sure which side I would WANT to fly on, and I'm not sure which side I will HAVE to fly on because of low numbers.

BTW, how about navy dive and torpedo bombers for both sides?  Intentionally left out?  Or brain fart?

Thanks Jarbo and congratulations on your promotion.  How cool to be able to wear the actual insignia your father wore in WWII.

My dad commanded a coastal battery in the Russell islands in WWII.  The japanese sunk every supply ship coming to the island for three months.  Until the day he died, he refused to eat a banana or rice as a result of that experience.

As a tribute, maybe I will only eat rice and banana's as long as
this map is up in the CT...

Thanks for the set up!

Very nice! I will enjoy flying both sides! :)

This is much like the PTO 1944 setup I have planned for the Squad Operations (formerly known as TOD’s) on Friday night starting May 2nd. :D

Congratulations Jarbo!

Looking forward to this one.  Late war PTO is long overdue in the CT.  Too bad (for me) that I'll be out of town over the weekend.

Congrat Jarbo.

Corwin,

My father in law fought on Okinawa and took part in occupying Japan.  To this day he will not touch rice either.

I went with him to a funeral in which they did a 21 gun salute.  He wasent expecting the guns to go off, at the first salvo he hit the deck.

Must have been some tough times for those guys.

Only one thing I'd change, get rid of the FM2.

Other than that it looks good.

SHARP to you sir on your promotion and the historical and personal meanings that it has for you-congratulations!

Congrats Major Jarbo, you putz! (Wab ain't around and someone had to say it!) :) Sounds like a great match up. You gonna include lots o' San Miguel beer and . . err. . . um. . . friendly natives?  Whether or not, I'll spend some time in there this week.

How very interesting....

N1K2 has 132 Kills of F6F-5
F6F-5 has 98 Kills of N1K2

N1K2 has 21 Kills of F4U-1
F4U-1 has 13 Kills of N1K2

N1K2 has 23 Kills of FM2
FM2 has 13 Kills of N1K2

I think we shouldnt have these setups unless the ki-84 is released!

Its not fair on the allies. ;)

E-hem!

So US get beat because of IJN "uber" planes? BS! Where are all those "F4U to CT!"  fanboys now?

Ooops, It not A6M2 vs F4U "fair fight"? Oh, my!

j/k

IJN had numbers allmost every time  when I have been in CT...

I dont understand your post jazz, but I have noticed even numbers, which is nice.  In case you are confused, I am a f4u fanboy, and I was making a little fun on the guys that think the speed problem between the f6f f4u against the niki makes it a useless plane.

I am responsible for 3 of those nik kills in one sortie....  I never get 3 kill sorties.

except the other night when I had a 4 kill in the f6f...

Someone brought it to my attention the "Torpedo" capability was too limited, and in reevaluating setup I am adding TBM-SBD and D3A-B5N to CVs only.  I will update my first post to reflect this.

Good setup and I have became very familiar in last weeks with my Zero!;)

Only minus is that map is toooo big to CT, but it's still nice looking!

Thx!:)

map is too big for the CT.  I flew two sectors to get in a 3 v 1.  loads of fun there.  Then we spent the rest of our night suiciding a fleet parked 2 feet offshore, because hell, it was the only thing within 20 mins flying time!

Maybe it was because there were only 16 people in the CT Friday night.  Maybe easter weekend problems.  I'll give it a try tonight maybe.

holidays are always hard.  Should be plenty up tonight.  There is a little dead zone on this map, but I guess that is where the fleets are supposed to be.
