Title: Ports in Win2k
Post by: FirstBorg on April 18, 2003, 11:04:58 AM
Hi
I have this problem:
I use windows2000 ICS to connect to the internet from a computer in Lan.
I cant make a h2h server, because nobody can connect me, because Im on a Lan computer.
I read here that I have to "open" UDP ports 2000 - 5000, but how can I do this on the win2000 ICS server? Cause I just saw an option to open one port, but no option to open an array of ports.
thx

You are operating behind a firewall.  In order to open those ports, you have to have administrative rights to change port settings on the server itself.

No there is no firewall.
But I have to tell windows, that incoming signals on the ports 2000 - 5000 have to be rerouted to my computer in the network.
Because if I start a server in the network, I have the same ip as the ICS server, because of the sharing of the internet connection.
If now someone wants to connect to the ah server, the signals go to the ICS server and not to my computer. Thats why I have to say the ICS server, that it has to reroute the ports.
