Title: BMP formatting of pictures in Explorer/outlook
Post by: Mini D on April 20, 2003, 12:30:20 PM
Anyone noticed that recently Microsoft has started converting all formats of images to .bmp for display in Outlook and Explorer?  I noticed this when the Daily Dilbert changed formats on March 25th, but didn't really think much of it (Used to be receive the strip as a gif, now it is a .bmp with "untitled" for the file name).  Then when the avatars started showing up, I tried to save a couple and it would always convert them to bmp if I displayed them, but would save them as .gif if I saved the link instead.

Anyone know why this was done and does anyone know if there is a way to disable this?

I've seen the same thing in IE on and off for the last year, I think it's a Microsoft HTML rendering thing.  No idea how to fix it, haven't really thought about it until you bought it up.
