Title: We need to change our attitudes towards Lavochkin La-7
Post by: Ike 2K# on April 20, 2003, 04:01:26 PM: Im getting tired of hearing perk this (La-7) and perk that. Why not respect Lavochkin La-7? I respect those pilots who are in spit dweebs and runstangs but you people need to respect La-7 and its pilots.

Use its "Hot Rod" performance so that you can get away in defensive mode easily. If you're on offensive mode, make sure you release those B-20 cannons at distance 300 or 400 because it's trajectory sucks.

Ummm... when did this happen? I really doubt the drones who fly LA-7's give a rats bellybutton what people on these forums think of the plane they fly. Respect? This is a game on the internet... How the hell is respect relevant to anything?

Hell, you wanna talk about perking planes, I'd perk the 109G-10 before the La7. That thing is a beast of a plane.

and finaly rather than giving some respect to people that fly a certain plane how about you give your respect to everyone...if you dont there just gonna end up killing you...

i do, but shooting a spit down in a P-47 in tight-turns with hi-"E" is something and it makes you feel profesional.

Post by: Widewing on April 24, 2003, 05:59:31 PM: Let's understand something up front. In the real world, the La-7 was not quite so formidable. Indeed, the Luftwaffe was far more concerned with the Yak-3.

In Korea, Lavochkins (and Yaks for that matter) were slaughtered by P-51s and F4Us. Moreover, these were the later models of the Lavochkins, the La-9 and La-11.

As relates to this game, the La-7 is no better than the guy flying it. To my mind, anyone deliberately challenging a Typhoon to an HO is an idiot anyway, and this is common behavior among the La-7 crowd.

As a fighter the La-7 is, well, just ok. It's fast and allows one to escape situations that would normally end in a shootdown. However, if I want high performance, I'll take the F4U-4. If they ever correct the under-modeled climb rate and drop the "4" from the icon, it'll actually be worth the perks.

North Koreans were trained by Soviet and Chinese instructors. Some Lavochkins were flown by Chinese pilots.

What did in the Soviet piston-engine fighters was superior American airmenship, and vastly better combat tactics. Typically, the North Koreans adhered to Soviet doctrine, which like virtually every other Soviet military doctine then and even as late as the 1990s, was fatally flawed.

he mostly has to fight. Running tail tucked aint always an option.

I have said many times that i THINK the lala should be perked, but that is my opinion and i have never tiried to tell anyone that they must feel the same.
