http://www.lemonde.fr/recherche_articleweb/1,9687,317168,00.html
Were are the alleged 60 billion ?
According to the same source the Iraq debt to the Us should be between 3,3 end 3,8 billion ...
go figure...
-
Je ne parle pas francais.
(was that right?)
Who's got an English translation, I can only get the jist of this article - fear I may be missing a point or two.
-
Ya... those illegal weapons sales really add up quick.

It's right Sardaukar :)
I'm to lazy to translate this article (it's complex even in french ...) , and my second sentence is just a "flèche du Parthe" (I dunno how to translate this expression).
After seeing lot of post pretending Iraqi debt to(?) France was about 60 billion $ without any proof,I just need the help of my conservatives friend to find the missing 57 billion as this article pointed it's "only" 3 billion.
The humourous part is the comparison with US debt amount :)
-
how can you consider stuff written in a newspaper called "lemonade" ?
I mean, seriously, whats wrong with you?
;) ;) :D
-
57 billion euros? What's that...about 5 bucks?
-
1 EUR <=> 1,08569 USD
Ps : don't forget that some country use the ',' as decimal separator ... like mine :D
-

lol
The self-assured ignorance of some people is extraordinary.
-
Le Monde is the French New York Times. They're wrong about everything, and proud of it.

That's pretty cheap, squid are more expensive here.
-
I changed it. It's now more representative of the price of seafood.

I think its called sarcasm
I guess the english translation is self-assured ignorance :D
-
It's not sarcasm - that would be the exaggeration of a fact into a snide throwaway remark.
As if!
-
what ?
No bashing ? no insults ?
Come on guys ! wake-up !
I'm starting to thing you are pretty slow today ...
@Ra : you can do better ,if it was a bashing tentative it's pretty amateur ;)

Not harsh enought ... sorry :p
-
Straffo,
It's anti-french 'world' right now, so everything wonderful can exist, even without the french goverment knowing about it :)
Just like during the commie hunt.

The lack of a sense of humor and the self proclaimed wisdom of some is equally extraordinary....don't ya think?:)

It would have been funny if it was Canadian currency you were talking about. It might have been actually had a toe in the land of accuracy, rather than been a permanent resident in the capital of the land of Wrong.
(sorry Nash et al ;))
-
Where the hell did you guys come up with "Quid" anyway?
-
Apparently a squid cost exactly 1.25 pounds back then. So a quid costs exactly one pound, because only four letters are used, and not 5. Obviously, with inflation and things, the literal comparison is no longer valid, so other words had to be used - such as sponduleys etc.
I read that in a book once.
-
Why the hell did we come up with "buck"?
Damn... a perfectly good opportunity to bash the French, and more to the point... straffo, has been squandered on petty squabling over the worth of international currency.
Could this be a sign that the subject is growing old? Could this be a sign that most people are getting tired of straffo instigating a fight and then screaming that everyone is picking on him later?
Dunno... but it sure looks that way.
BTW straffo... it might have been a good idea if France would have made a conscious decision to cut their losses a while ago. Remember... it was a French buisnessman that made the decision to loan Iraq even more money despite being 49b Euros in dept already.
The desire to make a buck at all costs means you deal with the consequences of your decisions.

That's better Mini D :D

That was cute....now tell me, where exactly is the land of Wrong?
-
On the other side of the world to the land of accuracy, of course. Keep up with my lame analogy.

The lame part I understood from the start....it's the details which confuse me to tears.
-
Stay strong! Don't let it get to you, soldier!
-
Why the hell would anyone want to buy a squid?
-
More fun than a gold-fish?

Straffo I was bashing the NYT and Le Monde at once. I'd say it was efficient bashing.

Stanley Cup Hockey Playoffs in Detroir ?!?!?! ;)
Oh damn.... thats an Octopi :p

They'd be better off buying off players to stay than spending money on octopi.
I think Hull and Cujo would look fantastic in a Flyers jersey though... :D
