shouldn't 100's of fifty caliber rounds hitty all around you at the very least.... make you duck?
osties with open tops and tanks with pintle guns... guys are out in the iopen bravely firing at planes.... laughable... they should be hamburger at the very least and more likely... leaving a turrent open in the tank would allow a bunch of mg rounds to get in to the interior of the tank and bounce around for a while... after they wen6t through every member of the crew... maybe we could at least shoot the pintle gun off the turrent?

you can kill the pintle gun? I don't think I have yet but that is good news... what is it made of tho, it sure seems impervious to a lot of mg rounds.. How bout the gunner? does he die?

I had an m8 10 yards from a disabled Tiger in between tapping out SOS in morse on his hull Id take shots at his pintle gun at full zoom it filled my sight, yet rounds would pass through it, it could not be hit. Hits would register all the way up to the top of the cupola then pass through the gun like it wasnt there. I got bored and was halfway through jingle bells with my coax when an M3 came up to resuplply him and I had to run away.

You guys missed the sim by a couple of years. This heres a game.
-
You just should have picked up the supplies the m3 dropped, then killed it...
-
I;ve had the pintle gun knocked out by anemy GV fire. I do believe I've lost it to A/C fire as well.
Theres no need to have a wounded or killed gunner because if the pintle gun is disabled, you no longer have a gunner. You can sit up there, but you sure won't firing at anything.
-
the point wasnt killing the tiger the point was a channel 1 outburst. And Escher1 came through nicely when his tiger was popped the second the m3s supplies fixed him

Lazs don't you know that the Osti had a magnetic force field electro armor pack that they used when they lowered the armored sides for firing.

thanks funked... I knew if I waited long enough I would get a sensible answer out of the thread...

Jeez....... has it escaped your notice that some of the most romanticised and respected heros of WW2 were the thousands of tank commanders that made "Ace" status by shooting down five or more aircraft with their .30 caliber pintle guns?
It tooks guts to stand in an open hatch and throw those slugs at attacking aircraft, and the thousands of "tank aces" deserve the glory.

well... now I really feel like a heel. thanks funked and toad... I deserved it..
