Saurdaukar,
What is meant by your "anti american thing"...just curious....
AND NASCAR WILL NEVER STOP
Its the USA's most popular sport!!!!!!
:D

Guttboy - its the goose that hurts. Apache sends him my way whenever I make comments about NASCAR... Ive learned the hard way. (do a search for "goose")
The mission of The Office of Anti-American Forum Cleansing is to rid the AH BBS of "undesirables." We do have one famous ex-patriot in our custody awaiting execution; Weazel, youve heard of him perhaps.
We are the light, we are the truth, we ride in black helicopters and dont bother knocking.
Your foil hat will not help you, our agents are relentless in their pursuit of troublemakers.
You have been warned.

driving in circles is a sport?
-
Hawk yes...what do you consider a sport...and Saur...HAVE NO CLUE WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT
-
Who is your favorite driver?
Ted Musgrave- Ok Winston Cup? Man, used to love Mark Martin till he whined like every AH player with over 100 hours tour. Matt Kenseth is cool, AND from Wisconsin. But My brother knows Joe Nemeckeks uncle, so I have to go with him. Boris Said is still the coolest, but only races road course. When interviewed about winning, he siad he would get drunk as hell. God bless him.
What is your favorite track?
I look forward to The Daytona 500 of course, Texas, Dega (that last race was incredible) but I guess the Watkins Glen. No, Bristol. At night.
Favorite Race?
The Brickyard. Huge amount of money and tradition, plus it's hard as hell to drive/win.
Least favorite driver?
Jimmy Johnson.Could he cry any more given his fortune?
I used to HATE Jeff Gordon, but he has done a 180, dropped his wife, and is dating models while lawyers fight that avacado wanting use of a jet and a full time chef. You were a Winston girl before he risked his life and gave you all that stuff, hello?! Oh, and Kurt Busch looks like a AH player that's gay, so i hate him too.
Least favorite track?
Miami - Generic, boring, no tradition.

a reasonable definition of sports:
'Sport'- an activity with a significant physical component in which two or more participants engage for the purpose of competitively evaluating their personal performance."
I don't think vehicle racing really fits.. a hobby, yes, a great time?, could be, lots of folks enjoy it.
-
Hawk....with that being said....
'Sport'- an activity with a significant physical component in which two or more participants engage for the purpose of competitively evaluating their personal performance."
Try doing several laps around the track and you will see that it is indeed a sport.
Baseball...a pitcher?.....badmitton....significant physical component?
Its all relative....
NASCAR is a sport....tell that to any of the drivers that it has no physical component.....

I've never enjoyed NASCAR. All the races seemed to be on ovals.
I personally prefer going to a local track and watching kart racing. Lots of action, lots of overtaking.

Who is your favorite driver?
Stirling Moss
What is your favorite track?
Continental Divide Raceway
Favorite Race?
Sebring 12 hrs.
Least favorite driver?
Bubba
Least favorite track?
. . of my tears
-
Who is your favorite driver?
Dale Jr.
What is your favorite track?
Bristol
Favorite Race?
Texas (damn fast)
Least favorite driver?
Jeff Gordon
Least favorite track?
Pocono

Only ever knew one race driver personally. Swede Savage played football for my Uncle in high school and was a very cool guy. Died during a practice run at Indy.
Never really understood the appeal of NASCAR. Seems like at that level, it is more the machine than the man. (Meaning all drivers at that level are hugely skilled)

ill tell you what hit a wall, wait wait that would be "bad taste" wouldnt it. unlike walmart collectors plates and big #3's everywhere

Frog I see no reason why you should even be posting in this thread other than to be an prettythang. move along

I'm guessing you havent done any kind of racing, cuz if you did youd know theres quite a bit of physical and mental endurance involved in racing. and racing is one of mans earliest sports, so dont attempt to say it isnt a sport :)

I think this thread's timing is bad if you really want to drum up nascar support. All the fans are out burning dixie chicks albums about now.

All of you Yankees whine about NASCAR. Guess it's too painfull that The South has developed a genuinely popular pasttime into the SPORT that it is today. Anyone that says racers are not athletes has never raced at that level. Those are not Luxury Cars they are riding in, they are 800 Horsepower on the razors edge of out of control. And NO we don't just watch to see the wrecks. We watch to see that fender smashing pass coming out of Turn 4 heading for the checkers.
Favorite driver?
Mark Martin, but Kurt Busch, Rusty Wallace and Ryan Newman are close runners up.
Favorite track?
Texas! Used to be Talladega but restrictor plates have ruined it.
Favorite Race?
Daytona, Texas a close 2nd
Least favorite driver?
With the passing of Dale Earnhardt that crown has to go to Jeff Gordon. Jimmy Spencer and Robby Gordon receive Miss Congeniality
Least favorite track?
Richmond. Short Track racing is just not my thing.
-
fav driver : that guy with the southern accent...hehe.
Actually, Tony Stewart, track: anything without restrictor plates. I like the bump and grind in the short tracks, like Bristol.
Best commercial: UPS's race the truck.

Airhead,
I really don't understand the association of NASCAR racing (or Sprint car racing either for that matter) with being a "redneck". There are a lot of people in the US that think the same way.
Racing in any form takes talent and good equipment (meaning money). Oval racing is definately a skill aquired through hours of racing, not just picked up on the fly. Ask some F1 drivers that have tried it and failed.
I appreciate skill in racing regardless of venue. I also don't consider myself a "redneck" :). I do enjoy NASCAR and Sprint car racing because the outcome is never inevitable and most often there are a lot of lead changes. To me that makes for interesting racing.
Actually I can't think of anything more "redneck" than dashing around on dirt roads, through forests and across deserts like they do in Ralleys :).
-
Not a huge NASCAR fan... but jeez, you guys claiming its not a sport based on lack of physical activity should really get out on the track once or twice. Itd be a big (and fun) wake up call.

Mark, that's because you are from Fort Worth, so you fit in with the other 'necks. Really, come to California- I guarantee you'll feel like a redneck. ;)
Anyway what has made NASCAR great is the emergence of a driver who doesn't speak with a twang, isn't married to his cousin and is actually a REAL athelete- the greatest NASCAR driver of all time, number 24- Jeff Gordon.
If not for Jeff Gordon attracting a more civilized and better washed crowd to NASCAR, drivers like Terry Labonte would still be racing for hundred dollar purses and supplementing their incomes by running 'shine.

i mean no offense, and i am a white male southerner, but...
i have a few comments on "redneck circle burnin"
not a redneck event? please explaine the abundance of rebel flags proudly waving at all nascar events
the decal on your rear window (across from the one of the rebel flag) that reads "in memory of #3". statues, grave yards, plaques, and MEMORIALS are dedicated in memory of people, not the window of an '83 chevy truck.
do any of you have to live next to a nascar wanna be who races at the local dirt track every saturday night? always revvin that hunk of junk up at ungodly hours, washin the mud off of it and turning the street into a swamp, and so on...
I didn't make the sky blue, I'm just tellin you what color it is, so don't get mad at me.
-
Nascar Racing is the epithone of waste!

Your not a true 'Southerner' snocone, your from Texas. Thats kinda like being a northern mexican.

Easy there Creamo, he's just guilty of being a City Boy. The Yankees illegally annexed us or we would still be an Independent Republic...TYVM

Funny, I don't recall seeing an abundance of Rebel Flags at New Hampshire, Dover, Pocono, Chicagoland, Michigan, California, Phoenix, Sears Point, Watkins Glen...need I go on? With MOST of the races taking place in the Southeast (Heart Of Dixie) ya think THAT might be the reason you see that flag at those races? You are simply acting like a bigot.

Tronski and all you other redneck bashers ;)
I am a NASCAR fan and I live on Long Island, NY my entire life.
I like the WRC the most but they don't race every weekend, nor does F1. So NASCAR fits the bill quite nicely.
But Trinski you have to admit the last 2 seasons of F1 have been boring as hell. This season so far looks to be better except for the ferrari 1-2 at Imola. Jaguar is putting in a much better showing this season I hope it keeps up.

Being an Aussie, of course I do want Jaguar to improve, and I think they will with Webber at the wheel. I'm still not entirely sold on ALL the new rules in F1, but it has made for some great results.
I do like WRC, I reckon it's an excellent form of racing.

Hmmm ok ....I am originally from Mass so I think that I dont qualify as a "TRUE SOUTHERN REDNECK"....however comma I do still maintain my house in FT Walton Bch FL and vote in that state....CAN YOU SAY GW BUSH!!!!!!!.....<----thats gonna stirs some people up!
And for the comment that since all drivers are "so skilled at that level" it is more the machine than the man???? I pass on to you that any professional sport...Baseball, Hockey, Basketball, Football...all those guys are Professionals and skilled....I think then you might be able to say that the wins or losses depend on the type of athletic wear they use????
I am not a fan of the restrictor plate races at all....LET EM GO 200+
Lets see who comes out on top at Cali on Sunday!!!!
