Title: Belly up to the O' Club Bar!
Post by: Jester on April 23, 2003, 11:36:42 PM
OK, you have just landed that 7 kill streak and it's time to belly up to the "O' Club Bar" and tell all the others exactly how you did it in minute detail with one alerion tied behind your tail wheel.

Before you get started what do you order to wet your whistle? Lets hear it guys & gals - what is your favorite libation? Do you order a cold one, a shot of "Old Panther" or are you into the cocktail scene?

Post your favorite or favorite drink recipie here, who knows some of your fellow pilots might want to try it out.

OK... will go first.

Other than the old standby of Crown and Coke the girlfriend got me to try one of these and they aren't half bad. Just can't bring myself to choke down a Martini. :D

CASABLANCA
------------------
2 oz. Light Rum
1 1/2 tsps. Lime Juice
1 1/2 tsps. Triple Sec
1 1/2 tsps. Maraschino Syrup

Shake with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Add a cherry.

Snifter?

A Texan with a snifter?

Your horse must be ashamed to be tied up out front with you in the saloon drinkin' out of a snifter!

You ever see John Wayne order a snifter of whiskey and tell the barkeep to "leave the bottle"?

get a draught of something.   Newcastle Brown would be my primary choice.  Guinness after that.  Lately I've been having Red Hook (both their porter and their amber ale.)  It really depends on where I'm at though, as few places here have a large selection of draught beers.  "Whaddya have on tap?"  "Bud, Bud Light and Miller Lite"  :(  "I'll have sweet tea."

Exception is at McGuire's here in P'cola.  They brew their own, so I either get their stout or porter, unless their seasonal sounds good.  The Christmas Ale is very tasty.  :)

Of course at home, I just drink Nifty Brew.  :)  I've got a batch of Nut Brown Ale bubbling away at home right now.

Either

Bushmills Black Bush

Don Julio Anejo

or

Gosling's Black Seal Rum (the best)

Take three fingers of one of those and two ice cubes.  Or a cold Guinness, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale or Shiner Bock.

Refajo

3/4ths beer (your choice..dry beers usually better imo)
1/4th "champagne cola" (preferably "Colombiana" or "Popular", all US "champagne cola" drinks are way too sweet)

Think of it as a version of coke&rum, but with beer. Very refreshing in a hot day let me tell you..and you dont get drunk unless you drink 4 pitchers of the stuff.

Since I never managed to aquire a taste for beer or wine I like to drink Castillo Rum with a dash of Coke to give it some color :D.

I also find most Vodkas and Two Fingers Tequilla good also especially when mixed in equal parts with Kalua with some real cream added to it for a cream and coffee color. Kinda sweet though...

I'm with the scotch drinkers-(absent snifter-hehe). Gotta be a good single malt, Macallan's 18 year old is great but can't afford it, so I settle for the 12 year.

Preferably, the rusty nail
1 shot scotch
1shot Drambuie

For a change I will take Patron amber label Tequila

CHEERS! :D

Actually, I can appreciate all of the various Scotches and Irishes.

MacAllan's just my favorite.

Some have tricks to them, though. I never cared much for Lagavulin; had a few bottles bought or given now and again but it never did much for me.

Then I buddy was over that really likes it, so I gave him a shot glass and the bottle. He says "It always needs a bit of water".

This is news to me, but he makes me a Lagavulin with just a bit of water in it. WOW! Whole different taste... I like it now, quite a bit actually. That water releases a whole different "flavor set".

MacAllan is still my favorite though.

Irish? the 12 year old John Jameson is awfully good whiskey. So's the Black Bush, but it's a Prod whiskey.  ;)

Iron, Fat Tire is good stuff in the bottle too.

One night I got handed a flaming drink, so I blew it out and drank it.  It was actually pretty good.  Came to find out later that it was Hot Damn! mixed with 151.  Nice pleasant cinnamon taste, and about 10 minutes later you're lucky if you can stand up.

Of course, the multiple shots of Jeremiah Weed beforehand might have had something to do with that.

I'll jump on board with the Alberlour crew. The Alberlour 100 proof Single Malt is definately the one to have if you have only time for "Just the one".

But Glen Turret 12 year old is my choice if I have time on my hands.
