"Fast ships, going in harm's way"
Please, I really need to know this one.
I know John Paul Jones originated it, but what I need to know is what movie this exchange is from.

Give me a fast ship, for I intend to go in harms way
I think it is John Paul Jones.

"I wish to have no connection with ships that do not sail fast, for I intend to go in harm's way."--John Paul Jones

Google search
"16 November 1778 when he said "I wish to have no connection with any ship that does not sail fast for I intend to go In Harm’s Way."

FWIW it was a John Wayne movie with Kirk Douglas as a co star. I recall the movie but I'm not sure of the title. I "think" it was In Harms Way.

I guess I'll have to watch it again but I don't think that line is in the movie. I recall it being said on the bridge of a ship, looking out over a vast armada of ships.
But, In Harm's way is about Operation Sky Hook and Kirk Dougals, after he rapes the nurse who is engaged to John Wayne's son, kills himself by taking a B-24 in search of the Japaneses fleet.
Maybe Im wrong but I can't find that line in that film.

Maybe in "The Longest Day"?

I believe it is this movie you remember. It is late in the movie before te "climactic" battle that costs Waynes character his leg.
