Title: 190A-8 Engine settings
Post by: Tarmac on April 24, 2003, 08:55:02 PM
Was looking at the A8s engine settings on the HTC aircraft page today.  It lists:

Wep: 47" @2700rpm
Mil: 39.5" @2400rpm

By default, the A8s engine turns at 2700 rpm.  When you hit WEP, it stays at 2700 rpm.  Turn WEP off, 2700 rpm.

My question is, does the 190A-8's default engine setting turn too fast for maximum power/efficiency at "normal" (full throttle, default rpms) military power?  Maybe someone with a little more knowledge of engines/aviation could explain what's going on here.  My biggest concern is that I'm wasting fuel... should I be reducing RPMs to 2400 whenever I'm not using WEP?

Thanks in advance.
