You gotta go get this DVD just for the commentary by Tom Clancy.
OMG, he is the most self indulgant, pretentious, vain, arrogant SOB I have heard in a very long time. This alone makes the DVD a must see.
"That was crap"
"I know, I've been there"
"My friend the 4 star said...."
A jewel!

Yes, hearing him speak only reinforces my opinion of him. Whatta maroon.

Tom Clancy was an insurance salesman before he started writing. I don't think he ever served in the military.

He sure talks tough for an insurance salesman.

Agreed. Tom Clancy is a stupid idiot who thinks he is a prince because he can come up with sometimes beliveable political and military scenarios.
Then why isnt he a General? Not even 4 stars have his attitude.

I liked his first books, fat easy books for under-the-sun beach reading. And he looked like he researched and knew his stuff. Then I stumbled upon "Balance of Power", set up here in Spain, and, man, this guy hadn't even got a map to see where we were. It caused quite a ruckus on the press, because the plot went from the hilarious to the downright insulting.
I don't quite remember it in detail but images of a badly put together Sicilian Mafia tale with wrongly spelled Spanish politician names randomly assigned to the various padrinos come to mind.

No.. no military service... just enough patience to sit down and read through Jane's manuals. Some of his stuff is pretty decent... then he talks politics and the books go to hell.

If he sold life insurance I'm not so sure..some of them are like pitbulls when they get the idea in their heads that they can sell you additional coverage.
