Modgods:
I'm trying to make a green skin for the B17 but have run into several problems. I notice that some of you all have made new skins for this plane so maybe somebody can help me. Here's a pic showing the problems:
In case you can't read the text in the pic, the problems are as follows:
PROBLEMS
- Vertical fin de-icer boot: It's black on the fuselage skin B17G1.bmp (including the separate part of the tail), but the black disappears where the red stripe touches it.
- Tail Triangle Decal: This is white on B17G1.bmp and shows as white when the decal is on the wing, as you can see. But on the tail, the white turns grey.
- Fillets: The fillets between the wings, horizontal stab, and fuselage remain silver even though the corresponding areas are green on the skin .bmps.
- Silver Nose Parts and Cowlings: Basically the same problem as above, but applied to the top turret, cockpit roof, cheek gun positions, and engine cowlings.
Thanks for the help.

Well, that sucks. Guess that's the end of this project :(. Too bad, cuz I'd really prefer a green B17. The silver just never looked right to me.
BTW, what's is a "UV mapped" model?

Nice model. Looks like a Yak, right?
Anyway, I take it that with that type of model, you dont' apply textures?

as u see this yellow lines, thys show how rounded is skin around cfu.
UV map show how skins/texture is fit to 3d model. In b17 on wings is too short. Markings like "L" u have placed as ovject overlayed main 3d model. and textures belong to other file texture /as on som airplanes, markings/. Som spaces are not texturized, thats depends from what kinde of texture UV map was used to cover aircraft surfaces.
Sorry my english is too poor to explain all this technical terms correct
yes its yak

Thanks for the info. I've moved on to making a silver B26. It's got 3D items pasted onto the main body of the plane, but they use the skin texture of where they are, so they're no problem. I'd show you a picture but can't access my web space at present to upload it :(
