Title: whats with spam email lately??

a couple people i know have the same problem. its like someone opened a valve somewhere

Post by: Bodhi on April 27, 2003, 10:58:05 PM: Do not get any spam, nor pop ups since I downloaded my free copy of zone alarm! Just tell it which programs to allow access to the internet, and whammo, no pop ups. As for the email, Road Runner never gives me spam.

I work for a school system as their Network Engineer and part of my job is to take care of the E-mail and in the last 2 days I've blocked over 2000 messages and 74 virus.

Thank god for GWAVA!(spam and virus blocker for Novell networks)

Consider yourself lucky. Comcast does get spammed pretty heavily. They do block most of it but a lot still gets through. My wife's account started getting hit pretty hard the day after I created it.

most of us consider those 15 to 20 porno emails you recieve daily & are saving in your personal folder - spam :)

cuz someone has to subscribe to said pay site to DL all of their stuff and post it to the newsgroups! ;)

Since the spam is linked to your email address. And you changed your email address. Unless you give out your email somewhere you wont get spam.
Its not neccesarily anything to do with your service provider.

Curval, they must have gotten our e-mail addresses crossed up because I keep getting spam for Rogaine. :)

Some ISPs sell their own subscribers! Bastiges.

I had just created a new account with an old ISP and didn't touch it for a week (NO subscriptions to any newsletters or stuff). I come to check it out and there is spam all over.

Playnet sold my info when I signed up for WWII Online free trial. I put my name as "Octavius Oct". I love getting snail mail addressed to that name :D

Post by: Mini D on April 28, 2003, 07:08:30 PM: When I switched ISPs to USWest, I kept my old Teleport.com account (since I've used that e-mail addy for years) and never used my uswest.net account at all. After about 4 months of having both ISPs, I decided to just go with the USWest.net account. When I logged into the mail server for that account (one that I set up and never used)... I had over 4000 spam e-mails for 4 months.

the cgi script takes you off one list/database and sends you to hundreds of others - now that you confirmed it to be a valid email address......
