Title: Framerates gone to hell after windows re-install.
Post by: brendo on April 28, 2003, 09:01:03 PM
Guys,

Did a fresh install of windows, put nice new 43.x GF4 drivers on.

Running without vsync as normal.

AH now runs at 1/2 the speed it used to. Im getting only 30 FPS on my Duron1200 with GF4Ti4400.

I used to get 60-70 FPS.

Any ideas what can KILL my framerates in a new install Win98SE?

SBlive sound card drivers installed OK, but even with me running onboard sound drivers, still low frames.

VIA drivers in too.

Help!

Try the earlier drivers (I use 30.82 for GeForce3), revert back to generic PCI VGA standard driver before re-installing  (Select from list rather than let windows search on the change) else you may have a conflict on files old and new.

The earlier drivers seem to work better for win98SE on AH for Geforce cards.

Next re-install DirectX.  You could try re-installing DirectX anyway -it might cure it but it's likely the driver.

It worked. I can say that the 43.* detonators KILL performance in AH on win98 with GF4 4400

41.09 are the best so far.
