All you need is a object they fcked up, some free time, order to do some military exercises from Army HQ and a digicam.
For some reason CRS "overmodelled" the reloading time of 20mm FlaK30 AA-cannon by over 100% while "other side" has it's cannons reload times modelled very accurate.
Even when a guy who served in the army in the AA regiment and knows his stuff said it was fubared CRS didn't even bother to reply.
You guys have it pretty good here and personally I'm waiting what AH-II brings to the game genre :)
Oh and film I was talking about can be found from Here (http://www5.playnet.com/bv/wwiiolhq/dg_message.jsp?page=1&group_id=8864&parent_id=2566122).

Please man, we have enough of them here. :)

Staga you will find enlightenment when you accept WW2OL is a buggy load of code.
-
Every games has problems like these. The difference between them is how long it takes to get fixed. As for bias I think most of it is absed on what data they can access easily: English speakers will get US or UK data which will tend to favour US or UK equipment (and Russian will get russian data hence the superioty of russian a/c in il2). It would be interesting to see how a flight sim made in Germany, Finland or Italy turned out.
btw How's 1.85 going? I might give WWIIOL another try once I get my PC setup again.
-
1.85 Rocks..... I don't like the spawn limits they have right now, but brigade spawning is coming soon and should be a kick arse addition. Team work is a must in WW2OL I"m a lone wolfer for now and I die just about every mission. BUT when I play with a squad I usually survive the battle. There's still a lot of bugs, not as many as there used to be but some are anoying.
To be in the middle of a huge battle with planes strafing and bombs dropping and people dying, whew it gets REAL intense....
-
Don't forget these:
- unkillable gunners in Daimler (allies favourite trick is to drive one of these suckers into an Axis spawn point and just camp)
- invisible trees
- no biased on 64 player limit.... disappearing troops/tanks/aircraft
- clipping (great for shooting inside buildings and tanks)
- flaming blenheims
Some real game breakers.
BUT, still fun to be had - and its a great break from AH when you have AH Burnout.
Some tips, make sure you have 1Gb of RAM, and don't run higher than 1024x768.
Basically the its a war of two halves. 1940 the Axis equipment kicks butt. 1941 the allies equipment kicks back (especially when the uber-Daimlers roll out).
Late night playing is AWFUL. Numbers in off peak US times are very very low.
Oh and the FM is "teh suck".
Udie you in there as Udiee? I'm in a Vulkan.
-
Planetside is an example of how to do an online battlefield in terms of stability, frame rate, graphics and general coding.
And that game is still in beta.
-
The game is not perfect but it is a load of fun when you get together with a group to say take out a forward base.
If you play axis in the south much I am that crazy opel driver WBarker. The other day a group of 5 of us left a FB to take out an enemy FB. We had to run a gauntlet of camping tanks and then hide under some trees till a couple of straifing planes gave up trying to find us. Then we raced backcountry to the enemy FB. We stopped a couple of hundred meters away and the sappers snuck up. I drove the very lucky opel around to approach from the other side as a diversion. The enemy had guards and a char or two guarding the FB but they all got opel fever when I came chargeing at the base so our sappers go it and did the job.
That much fun is worth 13 bucks a month.
I like the 109F when the 1941 plane set is up.
-
Hey, Udie, I'm lonewolfing over there now too. Let's hook up and lone wolf together.
-
Vulcan,
Yeah I'm Udiee over there (messed up about 3 years ago in the beta when they were testing something and I've been too lazy to get Udie back :D)
Lizking,
Hell yeah. I'm on the axis side mainly because they have cooler toys :). I play just about every night now. I'm really wanting to multicrew in a tank. I'm a great shot but it's too dificult to survive when you can't fire and manuver at the same time.
The daimler bug will be fixed in the next patch that's in beta now. That one did piss me off several times though.
-
I play off and on. I was mainly axis but switched to help even out the numbers when it was heavy axis. Least I have binos on both sides I play.....same name Dnil.
Although I spend all my time now in Planetside. Still have my wwiiol account open for the future, for either PS burnout or something cool in wwiiol.
3 months of AH burnout right now.

The only true joy in WW2OL is the lee enfield rifle+nice rooftop+nice view to EI barracks and of course, the 88 (when you have 2nd acct to tow yourself).
In fact, 2nd account with 88 towing itself is probably THE most rewarding WW2OL experience. A single gun can wipe out almost the entire allied tank force in a base. I once had a 4hr mission where my 88 killed 1 allied vehicle per 1 shell ... except for 2 (silly panhard!). :D

omg, you pay DOUBLE to play this game???
"- no biased on 64 player limit.... disappearing troops/tanks/aircraft " <-- as long as this is present in this game, I will never even retry the game, let alone subscribe.
-
Nifty funniest thing I ever saw in WW2OL was at Xmas when I was previously 'retrying' it we repealed a major attack at a town. After the smoke cleared we see a couple of our guys running round hiffing grenades into an empty field.
We run over to see whats going on - the guys screaming at us to get down. We're going WTF? He says don't you see the Matty? We says no. Someone else about a mile away says they see it, but theres 4 or 5 of us standing there who can't see it.
So we're busy having an argument about the invisible tank, and the danger of taking drugs when online gaming ... then... whack whack whack whack... yes the sound of a Mg riddled our bodies.
Invisible trees, invisible tanks... its a strange strange world.

this reminds me of being in a GV on a field under attack...in AH :)

My current joy is to man the flak 30 and shoot down planes-the hardest part is finding planes, cause they vamanoose as soon as I start to bring fire to them.

Actually quite similar except add in inf to kill and sappers to worry about. And LOTS AND LOTS of cover for them to crawl/hide behind.
-
hehe no nifty. But its good to have friends lend you their accounts while they are away, just like I lend them mine :)
