From another thread, somoene mentioned that certain dates and events in human history would be worthy of "international holidays".
Which events would you think qualify?
My .2 cents:
- First human in Space (USSR)
- First human on the Moon/other world (USA)
- First human in flight (USA)
- Declaration of Human Rights (FRANCE)
- First Written Law (Iraq)
Ironic that the list of really important events in human history come from the nations currently going through political armwrestling no? :)

World Beer Day. A beverage that is as old as man himself. it should be a recognized holiday where everyone gets a paid day off. Combine it with "Free Taxi Day holiday."

Dont hijack me thread with sillyness pls! :p

I'm perhaps a bit nitpicking but I think you are wrong.
Either you need to define it more precisely or is it someone else ...
Lillenthal for exemple :)
-First Written Law
You mean the Hamourabi/Hammu-rapi code I think ?
So it's a bit more than only Iraq :)
-
?
first powered flight (any idiot can jump off a cliff, that aint flying) and first written system of law (yes, hammurabi's law) . Technically not "Iraq" that made it, but its ancestors.

I hate to point this out, but a (ughh) Frenchman named DeRozier was the first to 'fly' in a Mongolfier hot air balloon.
Benjimin Franklin witnessed one of the early ascents.
Someone asked Franklin what good was flying the balloon, and he replied, "What good is a newborn baby?"
One of my favorite aviation related quotes.
You can debate whether ballooning is true flight, but DeRosier was the first to rise from the surface of the earth in a non-ballistic fashion, and then control his decent.
