Title: nice sortie, crappy ending :(
Post by: udet on April 30, 2003, 02:42:45 PM
Last night I decided to take a formation of Ju88s and wreak havoc on an enemy airfield. It was dusk. The first time I took off an enemy PT boat off the coast killed my entire formation. Pissed off, I decided to punish the bastage, and, as I was approaching him, I started dropping 50lb bombs, one by one. Surprise surprise, I got a kill :) Not to be unfair, by that time the boat was under attack by a few other aircraft as well.
Done with the boat, I proceeded towards the enemy airfield, where I dropped all my ordnance without hitting anything, and took a lot of hits from flak. On my first run ,I had seen a C47 taking off. Now you understand that the slow, defenselless Dakota is just about the only plane you can succesfully engage in a Ju88. After I dropped all my bombs, I dove down on the lumbering transport. By this time I had lost the drones and had two fuel tanks punctured. As I had an altitude advantage, I was gaining on the C47 quickly, and I proceeded to fire on him with the front machine gun, the one that can be fire from the cockpit. At one point, he rolled over nicely and plummeted in the ground. Kill 2.
I then proceeded to go home. One look at the fuel gauge told I had enough fuel to make it. I was proud I was going to land 2 kills in the Ju88, which I don't normally fly. 'Bout 3/4 of the way, and ominous message showed up in the text buffer: "Lost UDP session, switch to TC/P" My Dial-up connection might be slow, but it's reliable. However after a minute I gor discoed. What a drag!!!!
 :p :(

Usually in the MA I get the message, but nothing ever happens. In H2H, though, it is often the end of me.

Yeah hate that! My internet use is free or was but is cheap but I'm only allowed 2 hours before the dreaded message appears, more correctly 1 hr 59 min. I lost a three kill sortie because I forgot about it. Other times it works to my advantage, when I no doubt vanish abruptly from the sights of some hero on my six, leaving him to mutter darkly about cheats.

So you might say 'change providers' but it is easily the best deal. I get the bill every month which lists all my usage which works out at around 80 to 100 yo yos (Euro)a month which then is discounted from my phone bill. I like the idea that I cost them that much per month.  Bang goes their profit margin LOL.

well, I almost never got discoed. It came at a really BAD time :) I don't get to land kills that often. Yesterday I managed to land a 2 kill sortie in a Seafire back on the carrier and I guess that made up for  the disco.

I dont understand. Your internet usage is subtracted from your phone bill???

I pay about 40 Euros a month for 24 hour ADSL access.
