""We loved the P47 for it's toughness and reliability. It was heavy and looked cumbersome but in the hands of agood pilot, it could turn and climb with an Me 109 or an FW190. And nothing could outdive it. We had pilots bring back tree branches and tops of telephone poles in the wings of their P47s. A few even came home with top cylinders shot off. It could be belly landed in a forest if necessary. On an open field it crash landed abou as well as it landed on wheels.
The 8 .50 caliber machine gun were devastating on ground or air targets and the plane was a very stable gun platform.
On the negative side, the P47 burned fuel at full power at 450 GPH, if I remember right. It only carried 350 gallons internally. It got nose light in the stalls, and nose heavy in a dive-had a very nasty spin-violent and hard to stop. I spunt out in a slow turn at high altitude with full wing tanks once, by accident, while trying to keep in formation on a combat mission. It tore the wing tanks off and scared the hell out of me. But the general I way I felt in a 47 was invincible. I had complete faith in the plane and would excuse its shortcomings to anyone;""
So now is my questions (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif) You guys who never flew a WW2 aircraft and barely a real one, what do you think the P47 flight model should be similar to in AH? Some said the Typhoon...geez, I don't think so. I see it more like the A8 with an awsome diving speed.
Go ahead guys, bombard me with 'the ultimate test flight report from Mars', or your personal feeling. What I would really enjoy is some another P47 pilot reports, I'm looking for some more hehehe. Would be good to have reports for people who flew others WW2 planes too.

"One of the 61st squadron pilots, Robill Roberts, came in low on such a day in P47B No. 26. By the time he realized that he might not clear a house facing him at the end of Runway 3, it was too late.
Almost on the point of stalling as he tried to pick up the fighter's nose, the left wheel and gear strut of the Thunderbolt smashed into the house, and like a giant bludgeon sheared through wood, plaster and plumbing. A crash shook the area as the wheel tore through a thunderstruck woman's bathroom. The noise, if one could have heard it, must have been fabulous, a combination of the Thunderbolt's screaming roar, the ripping and tearing of wood, plaster and piping, and, if she stil had her voice, the startled shrieks of the distressed but unharmed woman.
The Thunderbolt, if it faltered at all, paused only momentarily, then burst onward, leaving behind it a jumbled mass of debris that spewed forth in a torrent from the side of the house. Unaware that he had achieved something of a world's record in bathroom demolition, Roberts brought the fighter in for a perfect landing".

I don't think even the Typhoon should have a flight model like the typhoon (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
