Title: Sounds delay problem
Post by: Yeager on May 04, 2003, 03:07:46 PM
Ever since I put this new system together the sounds in AH, more directly, the sounds associated with weapons action are coming across with a minor but noticable delay.  Rockets, bombs and expecially the guns are giving me just a momentary but noticable delay.  At first it was no big deal but as time goes by it becomes annoying.

I have tried adjusting, even shutting down sound accelleration in both multimedia and directX but whether comletely off, or completely on, the delay never gets better or worse.  Just stays the same.

Im thinking its the Abit MoBo with sound built it.

Should I reinstall my Vortex sound card?  Will it conflict with the mobo sound?

Beemer had the same problem Yeag, his kid installed new sound drivers that caused it.
He went back to his old ones and problem solved.

Thats as technical as I can get so ask me to elaborate:)

I had that at one time too Yeager.  I fixed it by turning down the sound acceleration a notch or two in the Windows settings.

Turns out that the sound program designed for the board was not installed.  Instead, the board was operating on its base set of sound drivers.  As a result, a SB Emulation driver was being used.  Thats what was causing the bad sound performance.

I installed the sound program from the Abit disk and now the sound is very nice.  Spot on.
