Good point all America loving patriots are NAZIS! The only American patriots who are not NAZIS are those patriots who show their patriotism by hating america, thinking it is always wrong and evil, who are first citizens of the "world" and not of the USA and swear allgience to the UN!
-
Seriously Nuke, you really think that USA need all this advertising on their strenght and culture??
And why?
And why just here on this bbs?

Afgani phrase I heard once
"Any man who needs to remind others that he is their leader is proof that he is not."
We shouldn't go around bragging about what we've done, but I will respond to anybody who says that we didn't do the great things we've done.
-
I know I know the answer.......DUMB?
-
Amen to Major Hans...
Well said sir...
-
Well, i'd agree the moon landing pic is one thing that should be bragged about.
But just remember, that it was the "commies" ;) :D that went into space first.

How come that flag doesn't have a shadow going to the right like everything else in that pic.

Use a little trig and figure the length of the shadow for the pole alone (i figure that's about 4') with a near perpindicular sun angle (call it 10 deg.)
And you can see the shadow for the pole.

Unless, of course, he uses an AK-47 and the Koran to do the "reminding".....

NUKE is just a troll.
Nuke,
So.. how much did you have to do with people going to space, sending probes to mars?
I'm sure you're cursing about the taxes, which helps your oh so great nation to send probes to mars. (unless you're too young to worry about that of course)
So, how many people actually had ANYTHING to do with these things?
I tell you: only a little minority.
The rest has been just paying the tax money.
And then again, what does achievements have to do with anything?
It doesn't prove their attitude or intentions.
by the way, your attitude stinks.. :>

Fishu, you said:

What do achievements have to do with anything???? I hope all Fins don't share your mentality. Without achievements, you wouldn't have wheels on your bicycles, fire to cook with (electricity if you're lucky), printing presses to read books, metal to make tools, glass to make windows, and in more "modern" times where achievements have allowed computers to post your stupid remarks.

never claimed to be personally responsible for putting men on the moon, though my uncle was involved.....along with perhapse millions of other Americans in a huge, nation-wide industrial effort . I also have never complained about paying taxes.
Why people get upset just because I am proud of my nation, and post some pics is beyond me. And I am a part of this nation and however small a roll I play, I do play a role.
I wouldn't get upset if someone from another country posted in a similar way. What's the big deal? If it irritates you then maybe it's an attitude perception issue on your part, not my attitude. What you perceive as my attitude is just a guess on your part, as you do not know me.

I see the shadow of the flag, its about midway between the astronaut and the flag pole, and 'up' a bit.

Yeah, that was a pretty descisive way to make Japan surrender.
I wonder if Germany or Japan would have ever used the A-bomb in WWII if they had had one? I doubt it, they are too humane and Americans are just plain evil.
Germany or Japan probably wouldn't have stopped droping A-bombs until the whole world was theirs...that's one difference.

Grunherz calm down, not all patriots are Nazis. I'm a patriot. I just don't feel the need to go around telling everyone how great my country is. I let people from other countries tell me. Nuke for some reason seems to think there are people out there who need telling.
A true patriot is prepared do die for his country. A nationalist is prepared to make other people die for his country.
Nuke should read the 'Those terrible Americans part II' thread. Those soldier's behaviour is why you should be proud because they represent what America is really about and that is it's people. Not aircraft carriers and space shuttles, People!
PS you cannot really take credit for inventing the computer. I think it was the Brits who did that. The Brits invented a lot of stuff it's just that they are crap at selling them so it's left to the Yanks and Japanese to get rich off them.

Fine blue but be careful when equating exuberant american patriotism with nazism - certainly thats what you were doing with the whole "nazionaliste" tangent. Too many america haters these days are all to quick to call angry post 911 americans all sorts of bad things.

GH, I think it's easy to understand why it's you personally who is the target for such generalisations.
I don't want to offend anyone, but it seems to me that many people here went off the rocker after 911. Just like me and many other Russians did after 1999 apartment bombings and Nord-Ost theatre attack... But you have to calm down sooner or later... The sooner the better.
-
Of course we were pissed boroda, and now we are taking care of business the american way - tough and viscius towards the enemy but ultimately decent.

Grunherz,
Who here hates "america, thinking it is always wrong and evil, who are first citizens of the "world" and not of the USA and swear allgience to the UN!"?
Just curious if you're actually going to be specific or continue the broadbrush manufactured statements?
Who among us does as you say they do?

Look at the angle of the sun. It is very low on the horizon.
Look at the shadows of the lunar lander and the astronaut.
Notice how the shadows are very long, but more importantly thinner.
Notice the flag angle to the sun. Very thin shadow both the flag and the pole would cast.
The shadow is there, just the camera didn't pick it up in that shot.
Or did it?
Look just above the astronaut's leg's shadow. You should just make out a thin shadow of the flag pole.
Unlike our Earth that has an atmosphere that acts somewhat as a filter, the moon does not.
Extreme high contrast shots are the norm as bright is REALLY bright on the moon.
