Close, but no cigar. It is the maiden voyage of the Swiss Navy flagship "Schwimmschemel" in late 1938, just prior to the outbreak of WW2. You can see the "die" on the side of the bridge, which is used to paint the white cross of Switzerland.

In the book, The Luftwaffe in the Battle of Briton by Van Ishoven, their is a section on these odd duck's. Aparently they mored them out in the chanel and the idea was for German airmen who had to ditch to seek out the closest one and set down near it, they had bunches of them set in different places so the idea was you dident half to look very far to find one.
Once inside their were bunks, heat and chow and watter, and a radio, and some first aide stuff.
Aparently they had the habait of breaking lose and floating off, and I dont think they were in active service for very long.

The Brits called them Lobster pot's.

This image is hosted by frepickhosting.com, they are very good about long term picture storage, though they proved to have to many "outages"...periouds that lasted for a few days at a wack whear they were down for maintance or what ever, so I switched to a different picture hosting service, while it is more reliable I pay for it (not much 10 bucks a month) , it has more limited storage but is vastly more reliable, so images I post on it will likely only last about a month.

I keep track of the images using legal tablets, the are all numbered and listed, but mostly it is memory, for the most part I remember whearter or not I ran somthing before, if I have a doubt I look it up.

The Name This series has spaned the life time of 4 different PC's, all with increasing Hard drive capacitys.:)
