Title: Did I do the right thing?

Was flying from A1 to A19 on Utero lake.  It was early morning, still pretty dark.  I get over A19 and I notice a friendly 190 engaging an La5.  I am in an F4U-1 5k above them.  So I am watching the fight, knowing that the 190 is going to win.  I do not engage since I don't want to steal the kill.  So the La5 gets around on the 190s tail and shoots him down.

So then I saddle up on the La5, him not knowing I am there.  I shoot his wing off, he bails, so then I shoot his chute.

So my question is- Does shooting down an enemy plane then shooting the parachuting pilot count as 1 kill or 2?  I think it should count as 2.

On the way back to base, I spotted an enemy cv, and a PT boat that had spawned in the middle of the fleet.  I dove on the PT and ended up at 10 feet doing 500+.  Staying at that alt, I only lost a rudder, aileron, flap, and 1 landing gear.  I actually had to dodge an escort destroyer because I was so low.

1st off ya shoulda helped your teammate......some of us call that TEAMWORK!!!!
unless said teammate tells you NOT too help.......

as for shotin the chute...well he shoulda bailed lower....too bad for him.....


as for the PT....he saw you coming from far off....bad idea attacking a PT WHO KNOWS YOUR THERE.....next time try avoiding or wait till a better opportunity

No kidding 456 posts and he wants us to think he is a newbe, try to at least cover the hook with a bit of bait.

Excellent strategy. Let the 190 kill him, and then you can get the chute. Why waste ammo on the plane?

Huh? There was only one chute, right? That would be 1 kill.

I've heard that the system somehow tracks plane kills, but I’ve never bothered to check into this.
